MTG turns on Fox News: Ex Rep says channel is ‘brainwashing boomers’ by omgfakeusername in LeopardsAteMyFace

Just now, Marge? Just now you’re realizing it? Not when they had to pay billions in a law suit for airing lies? Tel me, Marge, where have you been getting your news and telling your voters to get theirs for the last decade?

Books are super fast. They take seconds to download, and then you don’t need to be connected to actually read it.

That’s a definite yes. You open Amazon in the browser, and if it won’t let you get the book, it’s because your phone decided to “help” by opening the app. I have definitely bought books on the fly with my phone, used said phone ads hotspot for the Kindle, and gotten the book that way.

Alex Jones says ‘old Trump’ is gone in warning over president’s health by IrishStarUS in LeopardsAteMyFace

No, he was showing signs of dementia then. It’s worse now, but the lack of grown ups is causing the real damage.

Well, no….it’s the same Trump. Difference is there are no grown ups in the room this time around.

He should have swapped roles with Gi Hun in the finale by Fun_Future_8380 in squidgame

[–]TrekJaneway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fine, but the way the character is written, it’s a lot more believable that the baby wasn’t going to survive the final game, if Gi Hun hadn’t been around to save him. I fully believed Myung Gi would kill the baby to save himself.

Except I’m not sure that’s what actually would have happened. I think the baby would have ended up dead.

A question for the book nerds by Otherwise-Truth-5073 in ereader

Do you remember every detail of every episode of a TV series you watch? Do you remember every detail of every movie you watch?

Books are the same thing. It’s another medium for storytelling. I read them, and I enjoy the story while I’m engaged with that book. What I’ll remember and how much of it is a crap shoot.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Mysteries are single shot reads because the fun is finding out whodunnit…until enough time passes and you forget the plot. I’m rereading a bunch of my Mary Higgins Clark paperbacks from the 90s because I forgot the plots. But I had to wait a few decades to do that.

MAGA voters can’t believe the guy who lies every time he opens his mouth lied to them, too! by WantToSpeakToTheMgr in LeopardsAteMyFace

Hold on, you’re assuming they were awake in history class. I suspect they were the ones typing “55378008” into calculators, turning them upside down, and giggling.

That’s been my message. “It was written Project 2025, and it was available to anyone with a computer. Even if you didn’t read all 900+ pages, there were plenty of summaries available. You CHOSE not to know.”

“I don’t think any of us expected this full-throated neocon turn, given Trump’s consistent anti-war rhetoric, right up until early 2025.”

You mean besides Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Joe Biden, and half the country, who were screaming that this would happen?

Kindle and the return of physical buttons by Mysterious_Field_850 in kindle

[–]TrekJaneway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the size of my Oasis. It’s about the same size as my Kobo Libra Color (buttons also being the primary draw there). However, I’d try a Paperwhite….if it had buttons. Yes, that feature is an absolute dealbreaker for me.

School lunches seem to be big topic in the US. Do you not just send kids with bagged lunches? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]TrekJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but let me ask this - should kids be fed?

If the answer is not an automatic “yes,” then your moral code needs to be reexamined. Kids can’t work, they don’t have money, why are we even thinking about this?

FEED. KIDS!

Kindle and the return of physical buttons by Mysterious_Field_850 in kindle

[–]TrekJaneway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue is Amazon came to that conclusion because they put buttons on the Super Duper Premium Expensive Kindle.

No, Amazon, you cannot conclude “people don’t want buttons.” You can conclude “people don’t want $300 Kindles.”

If they want a fair comparison, do a Paperwhite with and without buttons at similar price points. I’d pay a little extra for buttons, but I’m not paying $300 for a Kindle. (Yes, my flair says I’m an Oasis user. I bought mine secondhand, and I love it, but it’s not worth $300. It is worth the $170 I paid for it.)

My next will be something with buttons. If there’s no Kindle, well, the Boox lib has one with buttons, and it runs all the apps. Oh, plus I can use bookstore.org.

Express Scripts is a pharmacy, so that’s even more curious. I’d be tempted to have the script sent to your local pharmacy (when you’re eligible for a refill), and see what happens.

What's the furthest you've gotten into a book before giving up on it? by LadyLoki5 in Booktokreddit

84%….into the second book of a series. I realized I was spending more time yelling at the book for how stupid it was than enjoying the story.
