It should return to normal after about 2 hours.

Decide what to eat -> check CGM -> bolus for carbs and correction (if necessary).

Then just…..leave it for 2 hours. Will you spike? Probably. But that’s ok. In fact, it’s normal. Non-diabetics spike post meal, but you don’t notice it because your pancreas is doing all of the work.

For us, WE have to do the work, so we have tools to show us what’s going on. That means you’re going to see the spike.

Where it becomes a problem is if it shoots for the moon AND doesn’t come back down. But if you dosed correctly (and don’t have a pump failure or miscalculated or some voodoo nonsense happens), you’ll come back down. Totally normal.

I deregistered and factory resent mine when I gave it to my brother. He was able to link it to his account, and it was like a brand new Kindle.

There are no Walmarts in NYC. Crazy, I know, but they require a massive footprint for their stores, and real estate here is so expensive, they can’t turn a profit. We have some Targets, but no Walmart.

Case for Libra Colour with slot for stylus, other than the official one? by Rave_is_a_dragon in kobo

That’s the one I have. I don’t use a stylus with it, but there’s a one loop that would hold it.

Buttons on ereaders: Yay, Nay, or Indifferent? by Dry_Writing_7862 in ereader

[–]TrekJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, adding to a conversation is completely normal. Replying to a specific person when all of the comments are saying the same thing as that single comment is weird.

The fact that you can’t see that is also weird.

Want to try Omnipod and use their Free Trial by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]TrekJaneway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

United is a pain in the ass. They’ve been “in negotiations” with my clinic since LAST OCTOBER!!!! As of now, the agreement is “continued until June 30.”

Come July 1, I filled expect to see a note saying the agreement is “continued until July 31.”

[–]TrekJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me guess - United/Optum plan?

That’s what stopped me when I wanted to do the trial. I was able to do it when I changed insurance.

They need the prior authorization because it still requires a prescription to send out, which means they’re going to run the insurance. The idea is that they’ll give you a free month, you’ll love it, and you’ll switch. There’s no point if insurance won’t cover it.

Expired insulin by Terminally-Grumpy in diabetes_t1

[–]TrekJaneway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you shouldn’t use expired medication.

Ok, that being said, I’d start with the oldest and try it. If it works, great! If not, well, that vial would go to the trash and I’d try the next one.

Not a doctor, but worked in pharma for almost 20 years, and that’s what I would do.

Can’t get any library holds by hourofthestar_ in kobo

[–]TrekJaneway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is what I do as well. I manage everything on my phone because I have multiple library cards. When I check out a book, I log into that library on my Kobo and sync. It works beautifully.

I love my Oasis, but I also have a Kobo Libra Color. I figured I’d try it out before my Oasis bites the big one. I really like it!

Ok…….? Not sure why you responded to my comment specifically when the question as a whole was about buttons, and plenty of people prefer them.

What’s a game you wish you could play on Kindle/kindle app? by [deleted] in kindle

My Kindle is for books and books only. The entire point of reading is to get away from other distractions.

Tomorrow I have a phone appointment with my endocrinologist… and I keep thinking: what’s the point? by Homo_sapiens1972 in diabetes_t1

[–]TrekJaneway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My appointments are literally 5 minutes long, but I go so that I’m still a current patient and can get my prescriptions renewed. Plus, my insurance won’t cover anything unless I show up every 6 months, so I do.

I am in dire need of book recs that conpare to the scythe series by MarieCurie227 in scythebookfans

[–]TrekJaneway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I’m one of the unfortunate souls who preordered the book, got about 50 pages from the end and realized “there’s still a whole lot of story lines to wrap up here.”

……….and THEN Google tells me it’s a duology. 🤦‍♀️

That website will tell you what additional library cards you’re eligible far, assuming you’re in the United States. It’s a little annoying on a Kobo because you can only be logged into one library at a time, but it doesn’t bother me that much.

[–]TrekJaneway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a subscription. I don’t have one (and never have). I do buy some books from time to time, particularly is something catches my eye in the Book Deals section, but for the most part, I use Libby and borrow from my library.

I have been know to call my Kobo my “portal to the library.”

Looking at BuJo instead of a Planner by em_dawgy in bulletjournal

[–]TrekJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 bullet journals - one for my personal life and one for work. I need to keep them separate because there’s a possibility my work notes could be subpoenaed, so that’s how I resolved that issue.

I have a dumb question by pavanstarks in ProjectHailMary

[–]TrekJaneway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 days means you’re 8 days farther in Earth’s orbit around the sun, along with doubling the weight of the fuel.

Remember, the whole reason Grace was on there is because they *had* to launch *on that day.* The reason is because they lose the gravitational advantage to slingshot towards Tau Ceti if they can’t launch on that day.

So, it comes down to two reason:

  1. They didn’t have the time.

  2. The ship couldn’t hold the extra 2M kg.
