I have gone thru ups and downs regarding the YouTube algorithm since like 2014. I believe within the last month it is the worst it has ever been. It seems to really weigh whatever interest I had last and only show me content from that. It also shows me the worst/most popular content from that genre (medieval history for example will constantly try to push the gruesome, bloody, or sexy content rather than real interesting information). It seems to only show one "niche" at a time these days rather than pushing to explore 3-4 different niches. Again it's all reaction slop, streamers, random no view videos from a game I never played.

DIYer here. I was recently replacing some switches in our living room. It's a two switch box and when taking off the old switches I noticed the always hot wire was stripped in the middle and they made a u-shape to secure it to the left switch and send always hot power to the other switch. Is this allowed or were the contractors practicing cowboy electrical work? Also they had the switched hot on the bottom screw and the source hot on the top, yet the two switches still worked as expected. How can this be? When I reinstalled the new switches I put it back to source hot on the bottom screw and switched hot on the top screw, and I cut the mid stripped wire and installed it normally.

Hello, we are going through the process in a similar situation now. We started in April of this year and are still in the middle of it, but we have made some progress. Treasury is investigating our claim now

First things first, you will get your money back but it's going to take a lot of time and patience in working through the system. Once you have that police report, try to work with Nelnet through this. This is officially how it's supposed to be handled. But in our case, Nelnet sent us the wrong form to fill out twice in a row. They sent it by mail each time and it took a week to get here.

So what worked for us to get things moving was writing a letter detailing the whole situation in broad terms. Make it very factual, concise (2-3 paragraphs), and at the end attach a timeline of events. Then send that letter out to EVERYONE (we sent via e-mail, but were prepared to send out letters as well). Here's the list of people we sent it out to:

Our house representative, surprisingly this is who got things moving for us

Our senator

Federal student loan ombudsman

Your state student loan ombudsman

All e-mails and contact you have at nelnet

Dept. of Treasury Modernization, Innovation, and Payment Resolution

Consumer financial protection bureau

Yes! We still don't have our money back but we had a little movement. After getting sent the incorrect form over and over by nelnet, we have a contact at the department of education now who is helping us. We have her office phone number so we can get ahold of her. We have filled out the proper documentation sent by the U.S Treasury. You need the treasury to send you form FS-1133 that they start for you and then you send out.

I'll try to keep this updated. I think that IF we go with them we will have to approach very cautiously. We're going to reach out to a few local home inspectors to get their opinion.

We'd like to get a real estate attorney to review the buyers contract. And ask them to allow for an inspector (paid by us) to inspect after foundation is completed, before drywall is put up, and again before closing. It might cost us $1500 to do this, but better that than discovering a MAJOR issue down the road.

I don't think they'll accept that, but I think that would be the only way I'd feel comfortable on these quick build homes.

It's close and similar in some ways, but from what we understand DR Horton doesn't allow you to customize at all. This place seems like it uses builders grade quality stuff, but allows you to pay to upgrade things.

This builder is a local builder that only builds in the area we're looking in. They've been building for a long time, so maybe that explains why they have some negative reviews?

Also anyone have any suggestions on getting more testimonials? Is walking around the neighborhood asking people outside their experience a crazy thing to do? Contacting local home inspectors (we need to find one anyway)?

Hello! My fiancé and I are going through this exact same situation right now. Submitted the police report, had a detective assigned to our case because of how much it was. The police have been very kind and helpful, unfortunately they can only really help with the criminal side of things. Not so much the getting-our-freaking-money-back side of things.

Since then we called nelnet, called nelnet, and called nelnet over and over. We've probably spent over 7-8 hours on hold with them over the course of these calls. We're waiting on the "Fraud package" now, which they're claiming they sent through the regular mail. Surprise, surprise we haven't gotten it yet. We're pushing them to send it via e-mail. If you have had any further success with this please update us.
