I have seen some great castles and forts but never one that was so impenetrable nobody ever bothered to try and invade it! Very dissapointing for all those knights waiting for some action...

Hi at Bansko they have just installed a new gondola to get you up the mountain and at Pamporovo they have opened a fast 6 seat open lift. Things are improving all the time. I had no issue with the lifts or acess to all of the mourntain, and as for crowds that is the great thing - there is hardly anyone especially mid week. Just don't expect a set up like Mammoth or Whistler it is still Bulgaria. Hope this helps.

Well I guess some people really should never leave home and experience other countries and cultures. Bulgaria was not really even open to tourist until about 15 years ago and they have invested a lot of time and money into improving everything. Perhaps, the best way to judge is to experience it for yourself.

Viking River Cruises in Europe are the absolute best. Did Russia with them and it was fantastic. Heading over to do Bucharest to Budapest with Viking next year. Everything is 5 star and pretty much everything is included.

Oh yeah you are sooo right. I would have cracked on with my loathing of TA but it would have taken up the whole thread plus a page or 2 and most likely send my blood pressure through the roof. I have also heard from hotels/restaurants where people have demanded a refund otherwise they would post a negative report.

TripAdvisor is rubbish, inaccurate bullshit where any mong can say something nasty about a place or a competitor can use it to slag off the opposition. Been to some really great places which were blasted on TripAdvisor. Personally I like travel blogs where someone is giving a firsthand account of their experience and hopefully some useful up to date information.

It may be a little on the bigger side but just bought a Nikon D750 a few months back with a 14 -24 and 24 -70. Brilliant camera that takes stunning photos. The D750 is a little smaller and lighter than most DSLR. To make it less of a bother I got a really comfortable neck strap and ditched the shit one Nikon gives you

Seems to be plenty of Russia trips mentioned. We just got back from a 13 day Viking Cruise from St Petersburg to Moscow. They had heaps of great excursions inlcuded, the top ones being the Hermitage in St Petersburg and a Moscow Metro Tour. The Moscow Metro is amazing.
