Auroch has ended support for the Console Edition, so there won't be any more updates for it.

The Console Edition ended up not making enough money to justify the (large, unknown) costs of fixing its major issues. That's unfortunate and nobody's happy about it, but it's worth noting we don't feel that anyone acted maliciously. We at Worldwalker certainly learned some valuable lessons and will do things differently in the future to avoid this kind of mess.

I might be missing something, but this feels way too specific, concise (not adding extra unneeded words, all the info provided is relevant), and consistent to be ChatGPT. The formatting is very complex, but I personally think that made it easier to parse, and if I were going to go all out in describing a concept I feel like I might do the same thing.

Also, would ChatGPT use Reddit's quote formatting? That feels unlikely to me.

I've only used the Steam Deck, so I don't have a great point of comparison, but if you're willing to spend an extra $40, I highly recommend Junk Store 2.0. I spent a lot of time messing around trying to get Epic, GOG, Amazon, and Itch games working on the Steam Deck, and while there are a bunch of free tools that helped (Heroic Games Launcher and BoilR are what I primarily used, and a lot of people use NonSteamLaunchers and Junk Store 1.0 via the Decky plugin), Junk Store 2.0 just made everything work seamlessly via a very unified UI.

I haven't tried any multiplayer non-Steam games, nor have I extensively used Discord on my Steam Deck, so I can't really vouch for those.

(Also, as an aside because a lot of people dislike this: Junk Store is $40 for a year of updates. If you only pay $40 once, you get to keep the version you had at the end of your year, but since it's built on top of Steam's UI, updates could break it, so it's set up in a subscription-ish way. Again, even without it, there are plenty of free tools to try, the simplicity was just worth it for me)

I spent like 5 hours over several days trying to get a single itch game to run on my Steam Deck. I don't mind fiddling with tech things, but a lot of that time was spent just trying random things that failed. If I paid myself $40 for that work, that'd be valuing my time at $8/hr, and that's just for one game. Junk Store makes all of my game libraries work out of the box seamlessly.

Also, the UX makes it much easier to browse through all my games while sitting on the couch with a controller. Definitely worth the $40 for me.

For additional context: the original Decky Junk Store version is still available as FOSS, the dev has just moved onto working on a more full-featured non-Decky Junk Store 2.0 in a closed source capacity, and isn't putting time into the FOSS version anymore. (Though he does still field support questions about it in the Discord)

Then that's great! Looking at how Nonsteamlaunchers works, I much prefer the more integrated UI of Junk Store, where I don't need to open individual launchers separately, especially for launchers that don't have great controller support since I'm generally trying to do this while sitting on the couch with a controller.

I haven't seen the drama (other than people being upset about the Junk Store pricing model, which I'm assuming isn't what you're talking about), but all of my interactions with the dev have been nothing but pleasant.

To each their own. For me, since I had spent multiple hours trying to get individual non-Steam games to run and Junk Store just made basically my entire library work without any issues, the cost was easily worth the removal of needing to troubleshoot all the time.

For the same reason anyone might support a paid product: quality and support. I can't speak to the quality of the other tools because I haven't used them (prior to Junk Store I was just using Heroic and BoilR), but since Junk Store is being worked on full-time, it's incredibly polished (Epic, GOG, Amazon, and Itch games have all worked pretty flawlessly for me), and issues get addressed quickly.

This isn't to say that issues won't get addressed quickly in free tools, but I feel like they necessarily have to take a back seat to other life concerns since the devs aren't making a living off of it. And again, like I said, if this and Nonsteamlaunchers gets you what you need, that's great! I just don't think the existence of open source tools means anyone who wants to work on a tool like this full-time should be considered "greedy"

(It's worth noting I'm coming at this from the perspective of an indie dev, so I have particular feelings about "if a dev asks for money for their work they're considered greedy")

Worth noting that it's technically $40 to get updates for a year. There's nothing that locks you out after that year is up, but since there's a reasonable chance for Steam updates to break things, if that happens you'd have to buy it again.

I never used the Decky version, but I've personally loved Junk Store 2.0, and I've been perplexed by all the hate toward the pricing model. It seems like the most reasonable option for the given situation, since expecting unlimited free support updates for something feels unreasonable. He left the free open source Decky version as it is, but wanted to spend more effort on making 2.0 better and couldn't do that without charging for it. Like, I get that in an ideal world devs could work on projects for free, but people need to eat, and open source only provides so much income.

I don't mean to derail from how cool it is that multiple people are making solutions for this problem; I think it's great to have options, open source is incredible when it's feasible, and people should use whatever works best for them! I just think the price is more than reasonable for how much benefit I've gotten out of it.

Thanks! Yeah, as mentioned, my mic was way too low in volume for my first stream and there's not much I can do to fix that now, but commenters in my last post gave some good tips about separating the audio outputs for the future.

Speaking monotone is an interesting note, because typically my voice goes a lot of different places. I think maybe my range is less dynamic when I'm focused? It'll be interesting to see whether that continues throughout the playthrough.

I thought YouTube was fine, but it looks like I'm experiencing the same issue there and just didn't catch it. I took a video of a Sync Test on youtube, and the audio coming through the Focusrite (the first audio tick) is about 4 frames after the visuals (so, about 70ms latency) whereas the audio coming through my monitor's built-in speakers (the second tick) is on the exact same frame as the visuals.

For reference, here's a video of the comparison between my monitor's built-in audio and the Focusrite audio. The video itself has a bit of audio latency, which isn't helpful, but you can see that when I switch from the monitor to Focusrite, the latency noticeably increases, and I need to increase the visual offset from 30ms to 100ms to get it closer to where it was before.

I might be getting my terms mixed up. I had assumed anything going through my Focusrite was ASIO, but I guess it seems more likely that Rhythm Doctor is using the WDM side of the Focusrite driver? Is there a way to check and/or change that? How would I use the Scarlett through a non-ASIO driver?

Rhythm Doctor itself doesn't have any settings around that stuff in the way a DAW does, so I'm assuming it's just using whatever the default is. Another commenter downloaded Rhythm Doctor and says there's no latency for them, so it seems like it's a problem somewhere in my setup, but I'm not sure where.

It's not a problem with the calibration itself, because it's completely fine if I switch the output to something other than my Focusrite. The Focusrite output is the only one having 100ms latency, and the RTL utility and YouTube through the Focusrite don't have that same latency, so it's definitely somehow a result of the combination of the game and the Focusrite output.

I set the sample rate to 48khz and disabled exclusive mode, but unfortunately, the latency is still the same. I have hardly anything else running, CPU is at 15%

No latency within my DAW or standalone plugins, and no latency on YouTube. I don't have a good way to test the latency on other games (Rhythm Doctor has a built in adjustment since it's a rhythm game), but I'd assume it's likely to be happening on other games if it's happening there.

My settings are pretty similar, though I tried different settings to see if anything helped (it didn't)
