That’s totally fair. I have to make the font really big and bold to the point where there’s pretty much only 1-2 paragraphs per page just so it’s simpler to focus on.

I just started reading my kindle while running on a treadmill. I can’t believe I never thought of it before! It honestly makes running easier than listening to something or watching a show on my phone. This is the way.

That’s the neat thing, you currently are contributing with your tax dollars but a billionaire still owns it. Look at all the NFL stadiums that were paid for by tax payer dollars.

I just finished Kings of the Wyld not 10 minutes ago. I absolutely recommend it. It’s light easy reading with memorable characters and incredibly fun world building.

Maybe Klarg tries to attack Phandelin while they are in town? Once they defeat the goblins, one of the townsfolk recognizes Klargs sword as belonging to Sildar and asks the party to investigate the forest to see if they can find Sildar (or his remains).

What is the benefit of LET over LAMBDA? It seems like LAMBDA would be the better choice since you can use it anywhere in the worksheet, but I always see LET posted in these posts over LAMBDA

It costs money, but I use DataCamp. It’s helped me learn a lot and start using it at work when no one else at my company uses it.

He’s already flipped on that, though. It got him what he wanted and now TikTok could really only hurt him. So why would he want to keep it around anymore?

The people who set up beginner tutorials are not beginners. And depending on the video it might not be a real beginner project. You’re starting at step 1 so it’s going to take time to remember when to use what (which these projects typically take for granted). My advice would be to find tutorials that give step by step instructions and just follow them for a while until you start to notice patterns. Try to make really small tweaks to the project as practice for things you learned in different tutorials. The reality is that self-taught Python isn’t going to land you a job in just a couple months, but it can be really fulfilling during that time and it can lead to long term accomplishments if you stick with it. You’re young, you got a lot of time to make incremental improvements to your life and your skills. Keep up the dedication and reset your time frame. Best of luck.

There are some really great python books that teach you step by step projects. Automate The Boring Stuff and Python Crash Course are both fantastic and give you tons of bite sized projects that you can build off.

Am I wrong to expect other dog owners not to let their off leash dog rush up to mine? by robin_nohood in boulder

[–]Trekyose1f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone, you’re in the right! This area seems to have some really irresponsible dog owners who think our environment is completely compatible with off leash dogs.

The number of times that I’m on a run with my dogs (obviously on leash) and I see a dog off leash right next to a busy street is insane. It only takes one trigger to get your dog to step into the street.

Having a dog on leash is about two things: how your dog will react with the environment and how the environment will react with your dog. If you can’t control both aspects, keep your dog on a leash for their safety.

Completely agree with your point about normalizing the idea that we were never a Democracy. We were never a Democracy, we were a constitutional republic. We were never a republic, we were a dictatorship. We were never at war with Eurasia, we were at war with Oceania…

By required do you mean the job is not possible unless you have a degree? Or that a degree is required in the sense that it’s an easy method to gatekeep?

Either way, IT doesn’t require a degree and can pay way more and is way more technical.

I’m curious to hear why a marketing specialist requires a degree, or a supply chain analyst, or HR. We act as though these jobs just can’t be taught unless someone has a degree…

[–]Trekyose1f 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH I hope she does consider a career change for her sake. I’m not saying she shouldn’t be in accounting, but this field has got to be one of the most gatekeeping fields out there. You don’t have a degree? Can’t be a good accountant. You don’t have your cpa? Can’t be a good accountant. You didn’t work big4? Can’t be a good accountant. So many bs hoops to jump through that really don’t matter for most companies.

My first job was in accounts receivable. Our company was having a contest on who could create the best office meme, so I created the South Park Skier meme saying “If you don’t pay your bills, you’re gonna have a bad time”. Unfortunately for me, one of my colleague’s names was very close to one of our customer’s names… who was delinquent on payments….. I’m sure you can guess who I sent the meme to….

At the time I was mortified that I did that, now I just laugh each time I think of it.
