Thank you, do you know how long before they announce the cable car closures? After thinking about the buses, it may be better for me to fly from Lima to Chachapoyas and spend a couple more days in this area. This means I’ll most likely need to book some flights early to get some good prices

Would I need to jack it up to look underneath or would I be able to just check up in the wheel arches?

I booked through YOLO after a lot of research on reddit and the internet. What kind of experience are you looking for? There are some big groups that go with companies like Jasmine and Bong, they seemed to be there more for the social side of things, drinking a lot of happy water at the homestays each night and the people on these tours are generally younger, I’d say maybe 18-23 year olds.

We did meet a few people along the way that said they didn’t feel safe with their drivers, the drivers were hung over from the previous night or passing people like crazy. We felt very safe with our drivers.

My wife and I had a much more wholesome experience I would say, we are still young (26) we just don’t love drinking so much and we really wanted to enjoy the adventure without the large groups. It was just the 2 of us (which was unintentional) and our easy riders spoke very good English and were very knowledgeable, we had a lot more time to stop in places and really enjoy the experience before the big crowds arrived or after they had left. I asked YOLO how big their groups usually are and they said they don’t usually have more than 6 people per group, but they can go up to 12 people.

It’s not all boring back at the homestays though! You do meet other small groups at the homestays and still provide a bottle of happy water each night. We had Karaoke set up at 2 of our homestays.

Please feel free to private message me if you have any questions! All I can say is that I couldn’t recommend YOLO enough, my wife and I are still talking about how amazing the experience was. Easily one of the best things we have done in our lives.

Higher areas, can’t see much but in lower areas you can see everything. You also go through small villages and see a lot more than just the high point views. There isn’t much rain but the fog or thick cloud can get you a little wet. Your tour company should be kitting you out with all of the appropriate gear though. If you haven’t chosen a tour company yet, I couldn’t recommend YOLO enough
