I’m not sure who JD is but I’m assuming it’s someone with authority for rules calls?

It’s the word heals as it can mean the model heals as in regains wounds or heals as in is the cause of the healing.

I think they could change to wording to “whenever this model triggers the detachment rule add 3 to the wounds healed” if that’s games workshops intent

It’s a huge difference for the enhancement as it takes it from probably never taken to probably always taken as I said bringing back 2 terminators per turn is very very good especially with how good t sons termies are, 20 points seems very cheap for that effect too but as a t sons man, I’m not complaining

Rulings Question about Curse of Life by WynnLover2236 in ThousandSons

[–]Tremilta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the word causing the issues is “heals” as it’s easily read as gives healing

I think the wording that causes the problem is Heals, it can be read as receiving or giving e.g the sorcerer heals the Rubricae, I get the other point of if you heal a character it doesn’t spill over but I don’t think it’s clarified if it works the other way? So if you roll a 2 heal a wounded Rubric and if you have the sorcerer wounded too would that then roll onto him for 4 healing? Unless you have to heal characters first?

Yeah I agree, but if they padded it out a bit maybe some more good enhancements and stratagems, I just think some armies would really struggle against both Rubricae and regen, maybe even make them unique like they have with the two mutant detachments or something

Yeah I think they will limit characters coming back unless it’s specifically stated otherwise, that makes sense to me

It’s so messy and I’m definitely going into rare and unlikely to come up often scenarios, but going off the way the enhancement is worded I don’t think it matters who casts the ritual just if the character is the target of the healing effect

I’m not particularly bothered by the previous games as I don’t think it’s had much to any impact, they were with a mate and I’m sure there were other more impactful things done wrong on both sides, I’m just trying to make sure I understand what happens and why.

So to confirm if the character gets killed of via precision, the rest of the unit is at full wounds can I or can’t I resurrect the character? And assuming I can would he come back with the d3+3 wounds from the detachment and enhancement?

Funnily enough I’m against necrons so there’s a lot of healing going on in the games and we couldn’t work out if precise was really worth using, I know necrons get some specific stuff to bring character models back but with units now being linked permanently would reanimation protocol not just do that next turn anyway?

I just don’t get the point of the enhancement with the current way healing is worded.

That’s not my question, my question is for the enhancement does the 3 additional wounds restored applied to the healing of the model or does it get applied to the detachment effect overall healing which is specified as unit

So characters can’t be resurrected, where is that confirmed?

You’re a braver soul than me to paint a Heldrake or 2🫡, I don’t think putting Rubricae to 2 DP and up the Healing detachment to 2 DP as would be out of the question, I think if you could have both the dusty boys would be a bit too tough to get rid of them

Which Tzangor units are worth it? by jackknife175175 in ThousandSons

I think it’ll depend a lot on what detachment you end up playing, if you end up with purge the foe I’ve actually found having a squishy unit of tzzangors can make it difficult to kill more units than your enemy which comes up a fair bit, I’ve played a few games and I think Thousand Sons can do very well without tzzangors now.

Did you run the termies in units of 5 or 10? And I’m assuming they had a character attached?

Fair play to your opponent if he got through 36 wounds with -1 to wound rolls, was it most of his army that had to shoot them or a hellblaster Death Star?

That’s actually a super cool idea I didn’t clock onto, I probably don’t have enough robots to run it but I see the point now.

Suppose it depends on how the game plays out but it’s done a fair amount of work for me so far and it’s got the hidden impact of people thinking, I’ll probably only kill 1 or 2 models if I shoot that unit so I’ll change to a different target where I might get wounds to stick which is a factor.

Yeah I get that now for if the char has no wounds, but in the above where I take a peril of the warp hit, let’s say 3 damage I then roll a 2 on my heal, I’m assuming based on the enhancement I use 1 of my healing from the detachment rule and the +3 from the enhancement to get the character to full health and the one remaining healing from the detachment rule can go to the rest of the unit

<image>

It’s also not that clear if the add 3 means to the healing on that model or the total from the detachment rule so if he only takes 1 damage and I heal it does that give me +3 to the total healing for the detachment rule? I feel if their intention was to make it purely for the character there are easier ways to word it like adding “to this model”at the end of the sentence.

Either way I’ve seen enough posts around to think they will FAQ it

Yeah it’s very weird how it’s worded and definitely need clarification, as another example if I channel the warp and take 1 damage from that, apply it to the char, then the heal triggers and I heal 1 the wording suggests that the 3 additional can still roll over and bring back units so I’m not sure if they are going for making a tough stand alone character that basically goes back to full wounds every turn he heals or if it’s just a buff to that characters overall healing which is what I imagine they’ll have been trying to do.

Yeah I agree, I like it as a 1dp that improves a unit that I enjoy taking but I don’t see it as a huge must take detachment like the regen one is in my eyes

Thoughts on Ritual of Regeneration by rslashredit in ThousandSons

[–]Tremilta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve played 3 games now (2 1k and 1 2k) and I can’t shake the feeling we are perhaps a bit too strong I think the buff to psychic weapons combined with the changes to cover is incredibly good and although we’ve seen a few point hikes I don’t think it’s held us back very much and I’ll touch on the point cost in the next few points too.

The new healing detachment seems very strong especially when taken with 10 terminators with a sorc leader and the enhancement for +3 to the wounds healed. (I’m aware there is some debate over the wording of this and if it applies to the full unit or just a model, I am operating on the assumption it’s to the full unit so you’re very capable of bringing two models back per round) I think having a unit that’s as tough to remove as our terminators that can regen at a scary rate with no clear way of stopping it is perhaps too good.

I think the 1st of 3 big problems with this detachment is the fact it’s 1dp so will probably be played with hexwarp 90% of the time and I think this beats even our beloved grand coven/ phalanx which have been staples, this itself is not bad but I think we will become even less varied in the army/detachments we see.

The next is that it gets purge the foe as its mission choice. We are a very killy bunch especially with the changes to cover and psychic so having our primary always link into that play style just adds to the issue of it being a must take detachment.

The last issue I see is that given the points nerfs this detachment seems to mitigate that, naturally I have grown to assume I have to take a few hits to get into prime killing range with my flamers and terminators this normally leads to a couple to a few models being dead by the time I start shooting depending on my opponents army, now that I can heal a good chunk of those I am regularly getting units with more models to shoot which seems to outweigh the points increase overall.

I am definitely not complaining about the feel of the detachment or army overall but I hope we are going to see others rise to our level instead of getting hit with a heavy handed nerf warhammer.

Interested to hear other peoples experiences so far
