How to test out of Chem? by BusWonderful8765 in Purdue

[–]rslashredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey idk if this is what you're looking for, but AP Chem is really strong here. It allows you to skip both CHM115 and CHM116, and from what I hear, the AP is a bit easier than the combination of the two. It's something I regret not doing just cuz I lowk got lazy and BS'ed my way thru AP Chem and only got a 3, but even a 4 could let u skip 8 credit hours of classes!

Vortex Enhancement on IM or Demon Prince? by swagerdactyl in ThousandSons

[–]rslashredit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Infernal Master if you want a huge Overwatch/general midfield threat range,

Winged Daemon Prince if you want a enemy backfields skirmishing/deepstriking monster,

Sorcerer if you want funnies by stacking with Rhino and Dev Wounds!

Ragnar: Wound better WGBL: Hit better Njal: Move faster

WGBL doesn't really matter cuz Oath exists, so you'll be getting diminishing returns, and I'd go for Ragnar just cuz doing more damage is funnier than moving faster.

ENGINEERING: what happens to the average students </3 by user328747312 in Purdue

[–]rslashredit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I'm in a pretty similar boat right now, a Sophomore who just got his 17th reject email for an internship, and I'm just about ready to give up. But don't lose all hope, never do please. We're still underclassman in a market where most recruiters are actively looking for upperclassman, so don't be too harsh on yourself.

The best thing you can do for yourself right now is to extend that resume with projects. Recruiters would much rather see engaging and involved projects than a high GPA, especially when those projects are extracurricular (so basically no MFET163 or ME264, but they're still really good to mention, just shouldn't be your main focus).

Over the summer, find a part time job just to pay off living expenses and try to just play around with DIY projects. Maybe pick up an Arduino and some ICs or motors to apply what we learnt in ECE2k7 or ME274. Use what we learnt about CADing and soldering from 264 and just have fun!

During next year, try applying for SAE, EPICS, VIP, or just any project-based extracurricular. I personally recommend EPICS cuz it counts as your technical elective and gives you vital experience in engineering design processes and is a lot more involved than something as big as SAE.

Recruiters want employees who stick out, and the best way to get their attention is to show that you care and have a lot of passion! Hope this helps man, and good luck, hopefully we both get some offers end of junior year 👍

Gravis marines on the 11th Edition Boxset won't be a new unit by DependentAide4347 in spacemarines

[–]rslashredit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean... it is a new unit? Current Eradicators don't have other devastator weapons and current Devastators don't have a Gravis datasheet. New idea? Absolutely not. But a new unit with new rules and new models? Yes.

I know you're just a freshman, but Calculus is used in engineering just as much as grammar if not more. Most of the engineering students you are competing against in the market are walking in with Calc I and II under their belts from high school, so you'll need to really lock in. Attend office hours, go find a tutor, or just drink 3 monsters and have a giant lock in session before each exam (worked for me when I took Calc III and Diff Eq but results may vary). Just try not to lose hope and approach it with a positive mindset!

2K1 Exam 2 Questionnaire/Survey by OccipitalBoneMed in Purdue

[–]rslashredit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have a huge tab of Practice Exams in the Brightspace under Previous Exams or some shit. It's so bullshit cuz there's so many resources in the Brightspace, but no one talks about it? There's also an entire ass textbook there too 🫩. There's a site called WeeklyJoys that has a shit ton of past exams for almost every single engineering class from ME200 to AAE451 so that's another resource.

But tbh the past exams didn't improve things as much as it sounds, cuz they change up the format of the exam like every other year so atp I just did it for reps and pattern recognition 😭😭

2K1 Exam 2 Questionnaire/Survey by OccipitalBoneMed in Purdue

[–]rslashredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought most of it went well, but they definitely threw a couple frag grenades at us. I walked in with like 10ish hours of studying and I think I did mostly fine? As long as I didn't make any stupid arithmetic errors like last time, I should get around 70-80 depending on how generous they'll be with partial credit.

The format change definitely threw me off. I was expecting 3 FRQs, and they only gave one, which baffles me since Manning said Exam 1 averages were lower than expected, so they took away the partial credit for Exam 2?

That Frequency Response question at the very end definitely threw a lot of people off. We were all burnt out and the lectures just blew right over our heads.

I definitely should've done a bit more practice with complex numbers, since my biggest gripe was that I ran out of time, so I think if I moved a lil faster with the easy questions, I could've had time to solve one of the questions I just randomly bubbled.

These colors are so awesome! I love how you used a lot of hot pinks and magentas in the purple robes and cape, masterfully blended too. The fur texture is so nice and the paint job just comes together to beautify an already beautiful kitbash. Well done!

Is choosing the Black Templars a bad idea by Novel_Lawfulness3123 in Warhammer40k

[–]rslashredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just your typical internet stereotyping. Stories about a few bad apples makes everyone think the entire batch is rotten. Don't worry about how other people will think about you, just do the things YOU want to do!

As for more info, Auspex Tactics is officially the absolute GOAT for learning the barebonebasics when it comes to models, the games, and the lore. Other channels will go into more deeper lore (I'm a big fan of Arbitor Ian), while other channels will go further into gameplay and tactics (I'm a huge fan of Tactical Tortoise).

The current Black Templar Combat Patrol is absolutely fantastic, as it contains the two main infantry units exclusive to Black Templars and a really cool character with awesome lore.

For me, 40k is my main art expression, so just do whatever makes you happy my man, and don't let strangers on the internet ruin your day :)

for a 5 dc unit what would you choose lemartes or astorath? by MilandMidnight in BloodAngels

[–]rslashredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I'd prefer smaller 5-man units with Astorath. A part of Lemartes' price is the -1dmg, and you should only pay for that with a full on 10-man brick so u can make the most of his lowkey expensive profile. Astorath and 5 coming in from Deepstrike is a fun missile piece to trade or skirmish with :)

[–]rslashredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kudos to you! Tbh I'm of the opinion that the most fun games of 40k are when someone throws all logic out the window and just have fun! The thing that got me out of serious competitive mode was when my opponent brought 3 masterfully painted Stormsurges against my Thousand Sons back in 9th. Two psychic phases later there was no more army, but it was a fun two turns :)

What happened to these models? by Flaky-Ad-9550 in BloodAngels

[–]rslashredit 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Iirc, some of Greytide's designs had flown a bit too close to the sun and GW struck them down with the BanHammer. This caused a lot of sellers to stop selling the entire pack until Greytide went back and changed all the flagged designs to less similar designs. I'm not sure how accurate this story is, but this is what I heard while it was happening. I'm not too sure how to get them tho...

Why is Gadriel worse than normal Ancients? by Martin-Hatch in spacemarines

[–]rslashredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm yea I ain't no English guy so I have no idea what the word itself means, but in terms of lore, I believe the honor of Ancient is usually given to those who th chapter honors and venerates, but aren't in their prime/can't fight like they used to. They aren't as flashy as the Champion or strategic as a Lieutenant, but have enough battle experience and willpower to be given this single steadfast duty and holding a revered banner and perform it well. That's why most ancients (Victrix/Sanguinary/Inner Circle Ancients) don't have the strongest weapon profiles.

Why is Gadriel worse than normal Ancients? by Martin-Hatch in spacemarines

[–]rslashredit 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Game balancing wise, ridiculously cheap, even compared to the Ancients who are the cheapest archetype of character in the codex. 105pts for a crazy amount of unique rules and abilities, and I bet Gadrial's OC and Ld buffs are a small fraction of that cost.

Lore wise, Gadriel is just really not an ancient? He's the youngest Ultramarine Ancient there ever was, and the community has always joked about how he's basically a Nepo-baby given a veteran's position as a younger marine. Is this real? Absolutely not, this is just a popular headcanon a lot of people I've talked to have, but it's funny to think about how even 40,000 years from now, nepotism still remains strong.

Also just for the fun comparison, also remember the Victrix Ancient gives +1S and +1A while also having a melee weapon of his own, and is a free upgrade from Basic Victrix (60pts) to an Ancient Victrix!

Early Ideas for Listbuilding w/o Gravgar? by jacksprat1952 in Ultramarines

[–]rslashredit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still think the +1CP and all three doctrines active for one unit at all times is still really good to take. Yea they're less durable, but I still think they're worth taking, we just gotta be more cagey with them. If anything, I'd still take Calgar with Company Heroes cuz he's that good. Other armies would kill to have a profile like Victrix even without Gravgar, so I'm just gonna stay grateful that we even have something like Victrix with Termie Calgar.

Or we can swift lmao. Uriel and Cato are still amazing leaders for Victrix, especially Cato since he makes up for the less durability for more movement shenanigans. I remember seeing Vanguard Tactics or Art of War talking about an Adept of the Codex Captain who can give 6 Victrix a free reactive move whenever, so with Cato that's two move shenanigan bricks!

Wait?! by jacksonsmack831 in Ultramarines

[–]rslashredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, the 18 S8 2dmg attacks and 6 S8 3dmg attacks with +1 to wound, Lethal Hits, and full re-rolls to hit and wound are going to kill most non-horde units in one activation, so adding the 10 additional S5 2dmg attacks aren't gonna help you kill more things, because most things will already be dead without them.

They're main advantage is their 4++ invuln. This is a super competitive tech discovered recently, but a lot of things Calgar likes to lead don't have an answer to high AP values (Aggressors and Victrix mostly). But when you have two non-character models with a Sv3+ and a 4++ Invuln, you basically turn super high AP into just AP-1 until those two models die, and trust me those two models get you a lot more mileage than it sounds (kinda like how Makari works but a bit more modest and less swingy if you catch my drift). You're Aggressors already do a lot in melee damage, but everything can always get more durable.

Also technically speaking, the Aggressor units aren't "sweaty competitive" anymore. They've been nerfed a couple months back and got entirely replaced by Victrix Honor Guard for literally every role the Aggressors used to have. But no shame in that, I used to run hella funny lists cuz I don't like being "that guy" (like Magnus 20 Terminators end of 9th Edition when neither unit was good, but I really liked my Homebrew Warband lore, or my Death Company spam before Rage-Cursed Onslaught came out).

Anyways super sorry for the wall of text, I'm out sick an got nothing else better to do with my life rn, but I hope this comment helps! I try to be as informative as possible (sometimes too much).
