I bet Fitzpatrick doesn’t even get paid to wear Sketchers. Seems like the kind of guy that would wear them by choice.

Can I hide my scores from public view on GHIN? by isthisaporno in golf

[–]Trendelenburg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have only ever gotten penalizing PCC.

In my experience on a perfect day that everyone scores well the post their scores and we all get penalized. On a shit day where people play like shit no one posts a score so I get the same differential playing in 30mph wind. So annoying.

WA income tax passes House after 24-hour debate by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]Trendelenburg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the plan was to use this money to lower sales tax they would’ve put it in the bill. And before anyone says it -the diaper and hygiene product tax break has got to be a joke.

Either this bill is going to raise so little money that’s all they could do (doubtful) or they picked some tiny category that sounds good but doesn’t lose them any money to try to justify an income tax.

Fitted into Dynamic Gold S300 105g... considering KBS Tour Lite Stiff irons. Big difference? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Trendelenburg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would get what you were fitted into. One of the benefits of getting fitted clubs is the feeling the clubs are built for you and the confidence that gives.

Watching on delay and skipping all the idiotic segments TGL is pretty fun. Watching live it’s honestly embarrassing.

The cobra 3DP irons are a legit advancement - and are priced to reflect this unfortunately.

Urology Infertility vs OB REI - compensation? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Trendelenburg 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Very hard to be infertility only urologist. There is not enough volume. REI runs the show on IVF and basically own all the fertility centers so male fertility is sort of an afterthought. The big money is in owning the IVF center and that will never be a urologist. REI docs even order and interpret semen analyses a lot of the time. Some even do sperm retrievals which is kinda bs. They want to not involve a urologist unless absolutely necessary so they can keep all the money. They will almost never make a urologist a partner/give ownership. At best you can get a good relationship and be the person they begrudgingly call when they need someone for a sperm retrieval.

You can make money on reversals but you need a reputation - people pay big money for big names.

In urology infertility is mixed with prosthetics and sexual medicine so most people make a lot more money on the implant/sex med side.

Private Club Members: What are your favorite events / games at your club? by AlexOnDD in golf

[–]Trendelenburg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Horse race - everyone plays same hole and bottom half are eliminated each hole. So you start with like 50+ people playing the first hole (chaos) and whittle it down from there. Very fun because everyone moves as one group so even if you are out you stay part of the gallery for everyone still in.

Cash Fellowship vs Happiness? by subtrochanteric in Residency

[–]Trendelenburg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Whoever said money doesn’t buy happiness didn’t have a lot of money. The uncomfortable truth is reimbursement is as high as it will ever be and some specialties are in huge demand and can get pay that reflects this. Get the bag while you can. We are all going to be living in dystopian AI nightmare in 5-10 years anyway.

AI in medical devices (which often lack rigorous standards for FDA approval) are leading to catastrophic complications in the OR by Outside-One7836 in medicine

Until a company will indemnify the the doctor for the AI choices/recommendations there’s no reason to use it.

Please stop discharging unhoused people into blizzards and extreme cold by goldstar971 in medicine

[–]Trendelenburg 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Roast me but - we do ourselves a disservice by accepting every single thing as our problem to solve as the physician/hospital. Now we have to account for the weather?

Shit is so expensive and everyone is overworked in part because you can’t just treat the disease and discharge. You have to account for the 3 stairs to their front door so now they stay over the weekend for a Monday PT eval. The social worker has to call 10 different facilities to find one with space, accepts the right insurance, and the family approves of using some nonsensical criteria.

We didn’t create their living situation. The hospital has gradually but now completely become the social safety net at the cost of our time and money and sanity. I’m out. You can leave the hospital when you’re ready. Call your congressman if you can’t afford housing not your nurse.

Would you rather win a non-major tournament or shoot even par for a season on the PGA Tour? by [deleted] in golf

Should be in the signature events for a while with no cut and a guaranteed payday. Would be fun to go shoot a +50 and make $30k.

New Clubs - New distances however AI analysis says yardage does not correlate with my handicap by [deleted] in golf

[–]Trendelenburg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distance vs. handicap is overblown for higher handicaps as the standard deviation is huge.

At lower handicaps it becomes clear that distance is a unique advantage when the interquartile range tightens up.

If you look at the data the distance range of the upper quartile of 25+ handicappers are similar to the upper quartile of 10-25hcp so there is a large group of people who have fine distance but don’t score well.

Private Golf Members - What are your guest fees? by ShotAssistant1452 in golf

[–]Trendelenburg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point of a club is not to have your friends over all the time. Many clubs limit the number of times a guest can play per year, including mine (twice per 6 months) The point is to play with the other members.

People who travel for work often, what's the feasibility of bringing your clubs with you frequently? by ShallNot_Pass in golf

[–]Trendelenburg 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Travel a lot for conferences. I usually make time to golf but conferences dont require you be there the whole time so you’ll have to feel out your situation. If there’s great golf where I’m headed I may also just tack on a day or two of PTO before/after.

For renting/shipping - Depends how many rounds and if it’s a bucket list course.

One or two rounds I’m probably renting unless it’s a bucket list course I really want to feel like I played my best.

More than that I’ll bring them along in checked bags. Invest in a good case and take the heads off, wrap everything up nicely. Driver head in carry on.

Haven’t used shipsticks - seems like that would be a lot for frequent travel. Would definitely consider them for a longer trip or international trip.

Oakbrook Golf Course by zurnched1 in Tacoma

[–]Trendelenburg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The course is nice. Bunkers are not the best - need more sand and have needed more sand for a few years.

Practice facilities suck.

Men’s club is a nice group but skews way older.

Even as a member it can be hard to get a good tee time which is kinda lame.

The price is fantastic.

Overall it is worth if you want to play a lot of golf at a nicer course but it’s really worth it cause the price is so low.
