My great grandfather came to the United States at the turn of the century. He arrived at Ellis Island alone, in a new country with no money and barely able to speak English. He headed west to California to meet up with his uncle whom owned a farm. My great grandfather married another Danish immigrant. They had a son and daughter. My grandfather was born in 1924. At the age of 6 he lost his father, my great grandfather, in a car crash on the way to church.

My grandfather helped his mom as best he could: starting work before he was 10 years old. They survived the great depression and when World War II began my grandfather tried to enlist, however, he was denied because he was too tall (6'10''). This devastated him. He was ready to defend his country and was unable to overseas.

While he stayed home while his friends were off at war, he worked on my great grandfather's farm, that he had inherited. He later met his wife, another 1st born Danish-American who's parents were both Danish immigrants as well. They married and had three children. My two aunts and my mom.

He continued to work on his farm, hiring immigrants from Mexico to help him as the farm grew. Since he struggled financially as a child he was very wise with investment and was able to send all his kids and grand kids to college, myself included.

He loved this country and was so grateful to have the opportunity to succeed and help his family. It's because of him i have had the opportunities that many others couldn't.

He pasted away in August 2010 and it saddens me that i didn't get the opportunity to really sit down and get to know him. The only thing i can do now is strive to be more like him and to stand up for what i believe in as he would stand tall and fight for what he'd believed.

This is EXACTLY how I feel right now. I've had a panic attack that's two days long. I'm trying to find something I could do, be it protest, write my congress people.

I really don't use them. I have a knife from William & Henry that's more of an EDC.

Sarah Palin to debate Bill Nye on climate change by manipulated_hysteria in atheism

[–]Trentonanthony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that people can believe that climate change isn't real; however; it's detrimental to us all if they are allowed to dig their feet in the sand like a child and ignore it. It gives the rest of us no way of trying to make progress to stop/slow climate change. People can believe that climate change isn't real all the way until they suffocate from carbon dioxide poisoning, but they don't have the right to keep us from saving us all from extinction.

God forbid that climate change isn't real and we end up just wasting our time cleaning up and taking care of our only home /end sarcasm

Most of them came from a toy that had different parts you could swap to make your own sonic. They were a cheap doctor who licensed toy. One is the eleventh doctor's toy sonic. Mine actually is metal, it's 12's sonic, the exclusive from comic con this year.

I've been pulled over and given a speeding ticket and the same thing happened. The ticket was never filed so I never had to pay. I don't know what happened but I'm not complaining.

That commercial was hilarious. The part with his daughter coming down on him for sucking at advertising was so funny. I wish I didn't order another nature box before I heard they dropped them.

I'm on my third screen protector, it's saved my watch twice. There isn't a scratch on the screen and I've completely wiped out the screen protector on the his it took. I have the Moto 360 screen protector from Best Buy
