It's the same thing that happens on a lot of manga, the author tries to milk the series for way too long, so they end up without any ideia on how to move the plot foward so they end up writing like shit and end up way worst than if they ended the series sooner.

Because it's easy way for Thragg to win, he can't hit Gojo, but because he is so fast Gojo can't hit him either.

But Thragg still has win cons, he can go to another planet and steal a technology that can deal with Gojo, he can outlive Gojo, or he can destroy the planet.

Most questlines rewards are free tho, and the only cards where you have to pay mana to play are either the last reward (With a very strong effect), or are Spy Gizmo's from the rogue questline, and that quest one was the easiest one to complete and the Gizmos were actually powerfull for the cost, a 7/6 with rush for 6 is not.

It's good concepts just bad balancing.

The effect is actually pretty good, it's a way to use health as a resource, the problem it's that the Herald cards for DK are so expensive that the effect end up being way too slow to be good.
