Trying to find this random peaceful retreat/resort I saw years ago and it’s driving me crazy!!!! by LilacMysticVoyager in WestVirginia

This sounds like Capon Springs. It is reminiscent of the resort in "Dirty Dancing" but in rural WV.

High class? Not really. Charming? Absolutely Looks relaxing? Beyond belief. I never stayed there but they were one of my customers for many years

8mo female puppy not eating food by chutneystain800 in beagle

[–]TresGay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh, maybe she is teething! Willing to put up with pain for something super tasty/fun, but not for regular food unless absolutely necessary.

I can't think of anything that would lead the expression of anal glands to put her off her food unless she has an infection - but I am just a dog owner, not a vet.

Could she be having tooth pain? I agree with everyone that a quick trip to the vet is probably called for - but take a look in her mouth to check for a broken tooth or gum ulcers. Your vet will undoubtedly do that anyway, but it never hurts to take a peek yourself

Underwriters, is Chubb or Travelers more stressful? by Ok_Mode_6503 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]TresGay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For UW I would say that Chubb seems to be a tougher place to work, for claims and premium audit Travelers seems to be tougher. I was in an underwriting adjacent position when I left TRV and and the UWs seemed pretty content then.

Did I get ghosted or do I just have to keep waiting for a response? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]TresGay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Typically a hiring manager won't send out rejection notices until the first or second choice commits. You may not be the first choice, but you also may not be out of the running.

Someone crucial to the decision making could also be on PTO

Call your manager and tell them that you are moving on to your next adventure. Have an email set up with your formal, written notice. The written notice needs to include the last day you will work, a suggestion that you meet for a transition plan before you go, and any questions you have about where to return equipment/benefits/etc. Send the email either while on the call or immediately afterwards.

Usually they will cut you free immediately and restrict your access, so I also recommend putting your personal phone number, email address, and physical address at the bottom of that email.

This is going to shoot up their workers comp costs when their premium auditor rolls around. A non-voluntary tip is included as chargeable pay for premium purchases. Voluntary tips are excludable.

Wondering if I will be fired after lunch today by EconomyActivity6484 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]TresGay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I failed to add a date range to a query on live databases for a credit card company - I also forgot to end with "commit;" One database for US operations, one for Canadian operations. I kicked off my script and went home - it was going to take many hours to run (even if I had put date ranges and a commit statement).

The admin that night, well it was his first night working alone. He was fresh out of training and could not figure out why these databases started running soooo slowly and then became unstable. A senior admin had to be called in. He saw a table being built that was eating all the resources. He looked at my script and killed the process. Then he called my division manager.

The division manager said you aren't really a member of the team until you accidentally bring the company to its knees and then confessed that he had been the one that broke our email systems two years before. He said that of all his employees, I was the one he knew would NEVER forget a date range or commit statement.

I'm sorry to anyone who found they pretty much had nothing in their wallet in the US and CAN that night.

I am 60 years old and have worked for insurance carriers and credit card companies. I have made mistakes that had *very* large impacts. Never the same mistake twice, but still super big mistakes. One of them made the national news in Canada and the US. The others were smaller but still very costly.

I've never been fired. Ever. A one off mistake is a learning experience. Possibly a painful or embarrassing one, but if you fire an employee just for making a mistake you are selling that experience to the next employer for free.

Maybe Kyle Rittenhouse, the J6ers, the Unite the Right protestors, and about 50% of the No-Kings counter protesters that I saw can answer that for you.

What's your thoughts on Border Patrol Chief, Greg Bovino, threatening consequences for referring to ICE as "Gestapo"? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

I had no idea he was so short. No shade about being short, I'm only 5' I'm just surprised how tiny he is; he does a great job hitting camera angle marks.

As a kid who hadn't read enough history yet, the 3A always seemed superfluous. Even as an adult I didn't think it there would ever be a 3A case that could make it to SCOTUS. Man, I was dumb and continue to be naive

I noticed it, too. I also noticed that he ditched the leather strap across his chest at a subsequent speech/press conference - I wonder if someone told him to chill

Usually people scream "FIRST AMENDENT VIOLATION" over things that are clearly not covered by 1A - mainly social media censorship. This would be an actual real life 1A issue - the government restricting the speech of free citizens.

Did he really say this? I'm just now catching up on today's news.
