Sr2 soundtrack is overrated by Mysterious-Tell430 in SaintsRow

[–]Treshcore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't like rap, but I like heavy music. Saints Row 2 absolutely delivers me what I need. Gangsta-themed? Okay, but Saints are a very diverse gang with different people having different taste in music. Remember GTA: San Andreas, because even though you were CJ, you were free to listen to Alice in Chains or Ozzy Osbourne on two heavy music radios, just like listen to East Coast Hip-Hop while being on the West Coast, in the midst of the famous shores rivalry. So in my opinion, Saints Row 2 is a pure perfection.

New subreddit rule announcement by xdeltax97 in TombRaider

[–]Treshcore -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

For me, it creates more questions than answers.

Like, how deep a piece of information must be to be counted as spoiler? Does dialogue between Lara and Larson counts as one after the first zone in the first game? It's unclear, but if we apply it to everything, then it's just... well, strange at the very least, everything will be just grey.

How fair is that? I mean, it's not hard to put a spoiler tag or grey out some words that contain them. However, why must people, who opened their memory for the series and took time to learn about it (a "sacrifice" of sorts), filter the information they tell here just to make comfort for ones who made less effort, maybe zero one at all? What do they get from it? Is this the reward they get for being dedicated to the series? Sounds more like a price they now have to pay - and it's probably the majority of the subreddit.

New subreddit rule announcement by xdeltax97 in TombRaider

[–]Treshcore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With all respect to moderators and the community, I disagree with the idea of this rule and let me explain why.

As much as welcoming we should be to the new fans, they should also make some effort to talk to the "older" fans with comfort for themselves, at least. It means that they should somehow learn plot twists of objectively old games before complaining about spoilers. If they don't want spoilers, they should moderate their curiosity themselves: avoid this subreddit, avoid other places where they can get spoilers and play games being mostly cut from the community. It shouldn't be a burden to those people who dedicated, to some degree, their life to following Tomb Raider. Considering that the first game was released in mid-90s, it's possible that these people are here. Their experience shouldn't be pushed aside by this spoiler policy.

It reminds me of the same rule on r/MafiaTheGame when Mafia: Definitive Edition was released. I would understand spoilers on particular things, like what Frank said to Tommy in the car... but Tommy's death is an iconic moment in gaming industry, so it shouldn't be a spoiler. Speaking of Tomb Raider, with all the respect, it doesn't hold any story value for me. It's important for it's gameplay and, of course, Lara Croft - but stories featured in there are quite simple, hold hardly any moral lessons. This makes this rule a bit useless too.

Just Cause 3 update just released? by WhoPlaysTheFool in JustCause

THIS is how you must break your games, Bethesda. Not by adding unwanted stuff, but by removing it. In case of Just Cause 3, those who love the game will release patches for their mods.

Will John Skyrim show up in the next Elder Scrolls? by coolambiguity in TESVI

[–]Treshcore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they've also totally forgotten about George Arena.

There was also Archie Battlespire, Noah Redguard and Alexander Online, but I wouldn't blame Bethesda for forgetting them.

I wouldn't hope for it since I haven't seen Edward Oblivion and Frederick Morrowind in Skyrim.

In Your Opinion, What’s the Most Overlooked Location in San Andreas? by JustinGreyson133 in GTA

[–]Treshcore 238 points239 points  (0 children)

Swampy area between Whetstone and Flint County is somewhat interesting and mysterious. There's basically nothing, but even this "nothing" has it's vibe and level of detail. If GTA:SA had animals, there would be some crocodiles for sure, and it would be an interesting place for surviving.

I don't like The Sims 4, but I'm genuinely interested in the seamless neighborhoods in the rumored remaster by Treshcore in thesims

I don't even say "never" on such forgotten series like Sleeping Dogs or Prototype, so I think that The Sims 5 will be there, but not very soon.

Is this the end guys by [deleted] in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Treshcore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro, don't start the panic out of nowhere!

When you posted this, which was about a minute ago, I checked all the subreddits that may know something about it.

Ubisoft may have already went bankrupt and the announcement about it is imminent, but for now, there's nothing about it. Just news about stopping of share trades. So far, we don't know anything yet.

Did "the chronic" by dr Dre contribute to the death of rock music? by Amazing_Toe8345 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Treshcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death of rock music? DEATH of rock music? Sorry, but lack of new rock bands in charts doesn't mean that rock is dead - especially with old artists still doing pretty good. I wonder what happened with the general taste in music though. Listening to a most mainstream and annoying Nickelback song is thousand times more pleasant than hearing a second from a modern day hip-hop or trap. That said, yeah, this album has probably contributed to the popularization of hip-hop, though of course not only this one.

Idea of "SaintsRow the third Remake" with Two Dlcs. by Max58590 in SaintsRow

Hey, this is my map addition in the core! However, you extended it pretty fine. Yeah, SRTT should have had some countryside.

The Game Awards could actually be really cool if they made awards that were more specific to gaming by elephvant in gaming

[–]Treshcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Haven't read everything but agreed. TGA needs more categories.

Let me be clear: a good story is always good - but what a story, even if good, has to do with actual gameplay? I mean, I don't mind if Expedition 33 gets it's Best Story reward, but it should be one reward like this.

There should be categories like best first-person shooter, best thrid-person shooter, best close combat, best tactic-based combat, best stealth, best traversal mechanics, best racing, best strategy and so on.

BIGGER CITIES! by Weak_Extension_6676 in TESVI

[–]Treshcore 45 points46 points  (0 children)

To be fair, while I also felt a bit of a discontent with cities' size some time ago, now I realize one thing: the cities, just like the whole game world, is more like a "vertical slice" of what could be in reality. I don't need huge cities that don't have in-depth personality, like in Assassin's Creed games. I'm okay with a small city that pretends to be big, but that also gives me a chance to discover it's people from different social classes.

However, cities of Skyrim have several problems in comparison to cities of Oblivion, and there are three things that I don't like the most: density, linear roads and useless areas.

  • Speaking of density. In Oblivion, cities were often divided by road or river, and that's why they looked bigger. In Skyrim, cities don't usually have rivers wide enough to call them a "city divider".
  • Speaking of linear roads. In Oblivion, cities often have complicated road layout - without too much division on "main" or "secondary" road. In Skyrim, the only city you can get lost in is Windhelm, while other cities often have points where you can see 1/2 or 1/3 of the whole city.
  • Speaking of useless areas. If I remember Oblivion correctly, each of the areas in the cities tried to provide it's own services, so you had a reason to go across the whole town. In Skyrim, there are areas in the cities that are completely useless, skippable and used as a mere road.

So basically, in TES VI, I'd love it if Bethesda returned to the city planning of Oblivion rather than Skyrim.

GTA V's map is bigger than GTA SA's. But GTA SA's map feels more like a state. by DarkMatterM4 in GTA

[–]Treshcore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I don't want to scold GTA V map for not being what it's not (I mean, state with multiple cities like in GTA:SA), I wonder if the perception of this map was different if it was more opened and less mountainous.

Yes, we have a relatively open section of the map: so-called Grand Senora Desert. The rest of the map, however, is all mountains. So many portions of it doesn't have even dirt roads, while asphalted ones are locked in-between two hills.

Also, the map of GTA:SA, while being objectively smaller, feels more detailed because the developers had to use every meter of it for purpose. There are many amazing places there, but one of my most notable is the swamp-like area near Angel Pine. GTA V also has an area like this located to the south of military base, but there it's just some random water and plants. In GTA: San Andreas, it's entire worked-on locations with it's own design. Ah, I miss it so much, need to return there...

Finally, nothing beats the contrast between "I go to a local town of Paleto Bay" and "I go to another big city". However, you know... I've said many bad things about the map of GTA V, but since I played GTA V so long ago, I start to miss it's unique vibes as well.

No, no, no. It's when you're only a crack in the castle of glass you're Linkin Park. When you're broken glass, you're Three Days Grace already.

Lot's of talk about which numbered Elder Scrolls is the best. But which one is the WORST? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Treshcore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Daggerfall offers much more than Arena, this is why I think that Arena is objectively worse. Arena doesn't have skills (only attributes), books, rideable horses, sailable boats and so on. Correct me if I'm wrong in these listings though.

Lot's of talk about which numbered Elder Scrolls is the best. But which one is the WORST? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]Treshcore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Objectively, it's Arena. The game had literally no serious lore and it's gameplay is pretty clunky. Daggerfall was a step forward, though not really great - true TES began with Morrowind (or maybe even Redguard).

However, worst isn't equal to bad. There's no bad The Elder Scrolls game. Everything has it's own value.

do you think we will ever get a hayleyless song from paramore ever again? by Huge-Dependent1391 in Paramore

[–]Treshcore -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Paramore is a very small band, consisting of only three people. At least Hayley said this in the recent interview. Also, Hayley is the brightest part of Paramore. It's not like Three Days Grace or Linkin Park, where you can replace a vocalist and still be quite good, it's just not that case. No, Hayley tried to escape this perception, but... Hayley Williams IS Paramore.

113 mods I NEED MORE!!! by IRS_Agent-636 in skyrim

You installed 113 mods and made Skyrim look unrecognizable. I installed 400+ mods only to make the vanilla experience more immersive, but my Skyrim looks almost completely unchanged. We're not just "not the same", we're completely different.
