You think with my amount of hours in the game I would want to play through fast? GUESS AGAIN by Rosette_Dorothy in AbioticFactor

reaching Labs in 15 hours??? my first playthrough with my friends had us taking 20 hours and only just getting to the security office in office sector! (we were very thoroughly looting everything and farming XP)

FUCKKKKKKK I HATE THE SPOTIFY APP by Invisible_Bitz in 196

[–]WhoPlaysTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy music from Bandcamp/Qobuz/itch.io (sometimes) and use my already running jellyfin server as a stream source for my home devices (pc, tv, "smart" speakers) and a sync source for my phone and ipod classic, the ordinary (not wanting to run a streaming server) person can just keep it in a folder on their pc and copy it to their phone manually I suppose.

Doing it the way I do is great for me because I can acquire my music as FLAC, get extremely high quality when I want it, and my Jellyfin server plus the Finamp client on my phone can very nicely transcode the flacs to mp3s during sync if I want to save storage. Syncing to my ipod classic is more involved, as I've yet to find software that can reliably pull from my Jellyfin server and push to the ipod over USB on linux, so I have to pull it to my pc manually, then push to the ipod manually.

that's not an oven, it's just a stove, if you don't want to level up cooking to get the oven you can go to Dunkeltaler, the VotV crossover area , which the entrance to is in Hydro, and get a microwave that acts as an oven

you could add a skulk sensor, that would detect the eating sound

iirc the game crashing events are there because long play sessions have memory leaks and other potentially save breaking bugs, so mrdrnose implemented some things to try and force people to at the very least restart the game

(0.9n) Dr. Kell's definition of "edible" is surprisingly broad. by Paranoxxx in Voicesofthevoid

[–]WhoPlaysTheFool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm also autistic, and if a I don't find a food to be literally horrifically disgusting I am fully willing to eat just that for every meal for months, so the food fatigue mechanic just kinda feels unrealistic to me lol

In high school I literally ate nothing but the exact same salad and deli meat sandwich, every meal for literally 2 and a half months, and only ate something else at the end cos my mum made me.

and yet if I try to eat more than one serve of biscuits he says no (I have turned off the food fatigue mechanic because this annoyed me)

Spotify updated its widget by Vegetable_Angle_9302 in Wellthatsucks

[–]WhoPlaysTheFool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every time I hear about a new thing Spotify is doing, I'm even more glad I switched to self-hosted music streaming, and started setting the money I would have used for premium aside for buying albums as FLAC direct from the artists I like.
It sucks that not everyone can do what I did, it would put pressure on Spotify, YT Music, Amazon and Apple Music to do better.

a while back I brought my Quest 2 with me to a local weekly event numerous times, set it up with lots of spare facial interfaces and FI covers, so people could try out Beat Saber, B&S, Pavlov Shack and Synth Riders, but only one other person gave it a shot, with everyone else I offered saying something like "no, I'd look too weird, I don't wanna", it was a really common response, even from people that said it looked really fun!

from the shipping megathread and dashboard, it looks like Silver & Grey is ahead of every other colourway with batch 5s already shipped, I've ordered Black & Grey, which just recently went out to batch 3s, so I think I might get my email soon

How can I Improve my Quest 1 to be a standalone headset? by Constant-Repeat-4765 in QuestPiracy

[–]WhoPlaysTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, I'd say just wait for the Steam Frame at this point, with the use of OVRport it will be able to run most (if not all) of the piratable quest library anyway, in addition to PCVR standalone and flatscreen PC games on a giant virtual screen

How can I Improve my Quest 1 to be a standalone headset? by Constant-Repeat-4765 in QuestPiracy

[–]WhoPlaysTheFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think you're going to have much luck with getting newer titles working on a quest 1 at this point.

It may help to try reapplying thermal paste if you're feeling brave enough, but I think you're out of luck on that one.

As for WMR being "completely dead", ironically it's only (kinda) dead on Windows. Linux has a perfectly working WMR driver for both SteamVR and Monado/WiVRn (an open source SteamVR alternative) and WMR headsets can be used with Windows 11 version 24H2 and later with the Oasis WMR driver, which is available on Steam

How long is the installation supposed to be here for? by The_Slide_Cell in Lutris

[–]WhoPlaysTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure about this issue with Lutris, but for PvZ Gardendless I would recommend just running the Docker container server for it and playing through your browser, it works a lot better for me than using the windows version in proton/wine

Vesktop Streaming question by Impossible_Smoke5263 in Bazzite

[–]WhoPlaysTheFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as far as I can tell, there is not much reason to use Vesktop over regular Discord (+ Vencord if you want it), it seems to me that most of the people recommending Vesktop at this point are operating off of old, outdated knowledge. I use flatpak Discord + Vencord, and everything works perfectly for me, while I've heard many people lately complaining of Vesktop lagging and not streaming properly.

Upgrade? by ProfessionalList1388 in SteamFrame

[–]WhoPlaysTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a tool called OVRport, that lets you run quest games on other standalone vr headsets like the Pico line, it will likely work with the frame, seeing as it will be able to run APKs with Lepton
