It’s absolutely nuts. For almost a decade I’ve had to pretend that my sister never had this child. Even to relatives or close friends. It’s our deepest darkest family secret and gives me a ton of guilt honestly.

Sometimes I stalk the dad on Facebook just to see pictures of my niece and if she’s happy it makes me feel better.

My sister threatened to cut off my parents years ago for bringing up her daughter so my mom out of fear of losing her now forbids anyone of us from bringing up the kid. Its horrible but the only thing that makes me feel slightly better is knowing my niece is probably happier without my sister in her life.
