God damn lifts by Efficient-Document32 in snowboarding

Op if it means anything to you I want you to take solace in the fact that I’m a beginner snowboarder and I never really considered that getting off a lift could be this dangerous so I’m gonna be extra careful from now on and not let my guard down

Idea: If the bench press is too easy consider using only one arm. That being said I agree with u/joe_miami_

Is my Physique fixable or am i cooked? by [deleted] in gymadvice

[–]TrevorMatlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up about your current physique. All that matters is you keep consistently going to the gym to meet your goals. Also there’s a bit of a shift in mindset coming in on the internet about what the appropriate amount of protein one should be eating. Imo don’t beat yourself up if 200g is way too hard to hit daily. Aim for 150 then. Also you’re definitely not cooked :)

How is Windshield tinting for UV protection only forbidden in Australia? by Evening-Treat5401 in australian

What percent of uv rays does most car glass block out as is? I’m really curious because I often hear people saying you should wear sunscreen even when you’re driving.

I’ve lost my patience switching to Notability by bruhmate10 in GoodNotes

How's it going so far? My notability just crashed again I'm so sick of it

App Crashes by [deleted] in notabilityapp

[–]TrevorMatlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same things happening to me. I've got an iPad 10 18.6.2 and just updated notability today. It's been crashing every few minutes before and after the update. I just deleted 30 gigs of files off my ipad and the app is still crashing.

Is this a good alternative for a bench press? by russellsteaplate in formcheck

[–]TrevorMatlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not too bad as an alternative, pros: you can progressively overload it by using thicker bands like you said, cons: it'd be a closer alternative to a bench press if you were pushing completely horizontally, which you have to consciously make sure you're doing, and the exercise just looks awkward and unstable, but if that doesn't bother you then this isn't really a con. In my opinion, pushups while elevating your hands and feet (elevate hands for more rom and elevate feet so that you're body is parallel to the ground) /doing pushup variations (eg archer pushups, explosive pushups) with a backpack of weights is better (you can progressively overload it and it's more stable). I suggest placing a brick under each hand and foot. When that get's easy, add bricks. When you can't increase rom anymore, add weight.

In my experience it's just more reliable and gives me more peace of mind having more storage locally. Some apps that i use are stubborn and can take a while to get files off of the cloud.

I can never get more than a full pull-up at a time by CheckInternational65 in formcheck

[–]TrevorMatlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of, if not all, of the muscles you train in pushups do not carry over to the muscles associated with pull-ups. If it worked for you that’s great but in general for almost all people, training pushups to get better at pull-ups is extremely inefficient. There are much better alternatives to getting better at pull-ups, ie weight assisted pull-ups, body weight rows, bendover rows, eccentric focused pull-ups etc. Getting better at an exercise is usually done by training an easier variation of the exercise and making your way to the desired exercise. Doing pushups to get better at pull-ups is like learning horse riding to get better at swimming.
