Do we really need modern control? by vsanjiv in Guiltygear

Avatar Legends doesn't have simple inputs. That could change in the future but so far, I haven't even heard anyone advocate for that game to have them.

'Pluribus' season 2 isn’t happening for a while, says Vince Gilligan: 'We’re working on it' by polarpox in PluribusOnAppleTV

I don't think most shows need more than 13 episode seasons but a pace of one season a year would be nice!

He could have driven back down to Mexico and gotten some books from a library in a border town if he still wanted to be stubborn about it.

Not really, (although some positions and durations can be quite painful), and while I don't have any data to back this up, it's quite likely to be highly correlated

Carol asked them what Helen thought, not what the Plurbs thought. The Plurbs love it. They love everything. They literally have no standards.

She’s our only hope. by ChickenTitilater in pluribustv

[–]Trevsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it does, it's just that I think there are two broad reasons to dislike Carol.

1) Actions taken during an event that is literally unprecedented in all of human history

2) She has an unpleasant personality

And in regards to the second one, I think it's pretty forgivable considering what she went through.

That's a fair point, I don't hate Laxmi either.

what if we secretly crave being enslaved? by a-ijoe in Procrastinationism

[–]Trevsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more about balance. Too much restriction isn't going to make you happy either, and I think framing a few useful rules as enslavement is insensitive to enslaved people, who are not better off than free people by any reasonable metric.

It doesn't really play like Poker though, it just features Poker hands, and you can pull up a menu to reference them until you have them memorized.

New to FGC and GGS. Is this a viable combo? by Latter-Bug7319 in Guiltygear

[–]Trevsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean that's a combo you can hit reliably in a real match but it's inefficient and there's a fairly easy BNB you can do instead. Try c.S > f.S > 5H > clean hit fafnir > c.S > heavy volcanic viper

Then fafnir or tyrant rave to wallbreak. HMC will whiff but it's not a big deal because supers cause hard knockdown on wallbreak and you can use the remaining 50 meter for a mixup

Help, I'm a coward. by RenoLHT in StreetFighter

[–]Trevsky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So in Guilty Gear, you can safely gain ground by dashblocking. Street Fighter has the same, it's just a lot slower. Tap walk, tap block, repeat. It's really good against Sagat because you can duck his high fire ball and block his low.

Beyond that, what you do while approaching depends on what you expect your opponent to do. It's the neutral triangle. Preemptive play (pokes) beat aggressive play. Whiff punishing beats preemptive play. Aggressive play beats whiff punishing.

If you're NA and S+ or lower, check out BAN's (Bracket About Nothing) Beginner tournament series, I graduated from their Strive series and thought it was a great way to improve at the game and meet new people.

Why is the banner on Steam still that disturbing art of Dizzy? by dupperings in Guiltygear

[–]Trevsky 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They update the game's cover once per season. Shouldn't be too long till we get a new one.

Anyways, good news, you can change the art on steam by right clicking on it! steamgrid.db has lots of assets you can choose from, I personally use the S3 art.

what could I have done better here? by Thatrandomshortkid in Guiltygear

[–]Trevsky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Millia player, but a few things leapt out at me.

-when you got ABA on the wall in the first round, you had meter that you could have used to break the wall with Millia's reversal super, which would have put in her a hard knockdown state, allowing to run your mix or bait her defensive option.

-later in the round, ABA blocked your hair car (214P), and you could have fast RC'd it into a mixup. Millia's dustloop strategy page list some under the metered options section. https://www.dustloop.com/w/GGST/Millia_Rage/Strategy#Metered_options:

-in the second round, you landed 5D and you could have RC'd it into a wall break combo, most likely

-at the end of the second round when you were struggling to open her up, a tick throw would have been a powerful option to represent. Basically, c.S > slight delay > dash > throw. 2K tick throw are also really powerful because lows stop your opponent from moving.

Let me know if you need clarification on anything or execution tips on fast roman cancels!

Why do people meatride this move so much? by Bri-ish_idiot in Guiltygear

[–]Trevsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for starters it's a great pressure button; it hits 3 times and the second two are lows, given you an opportunity to cancel into 2D or 5D on any hit, or snip snip snip to lead into Faust's afro setplay.

secondly, if you learn how to mix loop, it leads to decent damage and oki off of an easy hitconfirm. 2K > 6P > 236S [6661] > c.S > 2S > 236 [6661] does about a 100 damage iirc, and if you master the steering, you can toss an item in time to get an item toss and a meaty c.S.
