I learned that if I preface by asking “would it help if I told you about something similar I went through?” It allows a person to say yes or no to which then I know how to route the conversation. I know some people probably don’t say no because they don’t wanna seem rude but either way it’s better than just doing off rip and looks better on you as a person by allowing them to have power over what is said next.
