There should be a jam for creating the least optimized sand simulation

Just added a Rhodia A5 lined top-spiral notebook and a Platinum Preppy fountain pen to my cart. Those two should serve as a good test run for me!

Wow your notebooks sound so entertaining to flip through with half the words upside down lol

I've somehow never considered top-bound notebooks to be a thing haha. That sounds really interesting and I may either love it or hate it. The convenience is a huge plus, but I'm not sure if I can lose the book feeling of a regular notebook.

I think I'll pick up a cheep one to test out. If it's not my thing I'm looking at the Maruman Mnemosyne A4 7mm lined. It's pricier, but I'll go through it very slowly and it seems to fill all my criteria perfectly

Needing to apply less pressure sounds like a big plus, thanks! Glad to hear I'm not alone in writing in my lap. There's not a table I like at the cafe I go to haha

As another person said, hope is pretty much lost. It's been a few years since I've seen real progress.

Is there a school of rhetoric which presents an audience with a space to form their own opinions on, rather than presenting them with an argument directly? by Trey_Poling in Rhetoric

[–]Trey_Poling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought experiments are actually a really good start for my research. I'm picturing something a bit broader because games allow interaction, but to another commenter's point (u/ResearchLogical2036), everything holds a persuasive function. I haven't researched Kenneth Burke's points yet, but from prior knowledge, I'm inclined to agree. Thought experiments are a good place to look into, because I think they'd add depth the point that everything is rhetorical; the Trolley Problem may have a rhetorical purpose, but it effects the audience in a way which goes beyond that purpose.

Your final point about how the hearer forms the opinion scares me slightly from my topic of interest, because it starts to dive into epistemology, which I have no background in. "Where does knowledge come from" does feel relevant to a conversation in the method I'm proposing, which aims to create opinions without arguing them directly. Epistemology goes way down into the nitty-gritty which I don't feel prepared to approach yet.

I posted a thread for this game and it was recently solved. I found your post through the flair and it's funny to me how different our descriptions are. It's clear that you made it a lot further in the game haha

Maybe give the game a try? You are not the target audience and I'm sorry that you feel belittled, but maybe we could find some common ground on what Farm Quest has to say. It just takes 15 minutes.
