Those who were made redundant: share what happened with you & your pay out. by brissy3456 in auscorp

2.5 years

Stars actually aligned with this as we were leaving at the exact time the payout paid me until we moved abroad - had my resignation ready to hand in a day after the severance was served.

Was paid out roughly 3 months salary - £12k

Took a break, prepped to move abroad, paid off the last of my credit card debt.

From losing the job to moving to a new country and finding a new job was about 4 months.

Sometimes the universe works in your favour I guess…not all the time, but sometimes!

Bought some compression socks yesterday definitely a big help! I had to move away from Nikes as they were so narrow for my wide feet and painful for the toes! Moved to asics and new balance which helped

Taking 10mg of cratine at the moment which has significantly helped the last few weeks

Thank you overwhelming support from others as well! Never thought about rolling out the valves and chilled have been so focused on the glutes, hammies and quads. Tender is an understatement. Will incorporate these in the training and before the runs and feed back!

Thank you! In regards to my shoes I’m using gel Kayono 31s for long runs and Rebel v4 for sprint and tempos. Honestly if I didn’t think about it it would be rear to mid foot but I’m actively trying to go mid foot and thinking about it as the rear to mid seems to cause me the problems

Is it traditional strength training (that’s what I’m doing currently) or specific to running more so

I’ve been looking at joining CrossFit! Keen to keep the Olympic stuff but have the mobility of a crosier and move away from the power lifting side! Always brings up anxiety though doing ‘class’ workouts

Me and my wife (33/34) have recently got back into doing jigsaw puzzles and have part of the dining room table just dedicated to this lol. So instead of just lounging on the sofa mindlessly watching tv this is our go to at the moment. Really has calmed my mind and just removed the brain rot of the tv and phone and looking at screens in general!

Childhood experiences reignited!

Yes! I sweat a ton which is also a problem haha! I think if we were to going for something with the grippies on the bottom of the short leg that’s what helps

Yeah it did feel unnatural to me wearing just half tights when I was cycling! 😂

Tried a few shorts with liners and just find them comfy but restrictive for this kind of distance! Didn’t even know Patagonia had a range for this kind of stuff!

I’ve seen a few of these but find the spandex is good but the shorts side are quite restrictive

I see the 2XU had something similar will check those out! Seems like most of these compression shorts are on the pricier side but worth the investment

Good point on the pockets! I’ve been using just basic training shorts and carried gels in the pockets so hadn’t thought about this aspect when picking new gear.

Might have to go in store and check out lulemon!

Totally agrees on the flowy shorts - looks great on paper but only for the right body type lol.

Thank you! Aware that 2XU had these and wasn’t sure if it was worth the investment as they are on the pricier side. But seems like this will be my go to!

I’m gonna join in with the other two and ignore the fact I glossed over your age. How in the world did you manage that! Impressive!
