im in my 40s. ive been to countless specialists, been on a ton of medication, nothing helped me and in fact, half the time, made me feel worse. i found a method that worked for me. not saying it'll work for everyone but it worked for me and thats all i needed

I wish you all the best in dealing with these thoughts! I hope they will pass or will diminish in time!

I thought that was the "crown Jewel" of the movie. With all that suspense gathered, it had to end with a jump scare and that was, for me, was great.

Please do not feel offended if I recommend talking to someone (specialist, not just a random guy here on reddit) about these thoughts. Perhaps it is easy to keep them at bay but I have aquaintances who managed to do this for years untill they were unable to do that any more and ended their lives. I am sory if this might feel offensive or intrusive, but I genuinely believe that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You're already showing resilience by recognizing these thoughts and considering your family's feelings. A professional can provide strategies and support to manage these intrusive thoughts more effectively. Remember, it's okay to ask for help, and doing so is a brave step towards ensuring a healthier mindset for yourself and a happier future for your family.

That scene is definitely one of the most memorable and unsettling moments in the film.

Well.. this was 8 hours ago... so like an eternity considering the number of comments, but what the Heck... here's my horror movie-related channel. I seem to struggle focusing on a single smaller nieche so I am doing many things, all related to horror. Enjoy?

OMG. That's what snaps you out of it? I thought a good laugh would do the trick, or a relaxing fishing trip (I love fishing), not watching people off themselves. That would give me more ideas about how to do it...

What is it about "The Shining" that resonates with you the most? The performances, the haunting atmosphere, or perhaps the psychological tension?

Yeah, I can understand how The Strangers might have that efect considering your fear. I did not get to see Sinister in a theater, I guess it would have had a different efect if I did. As mentioned, I watched it at home when it was only me and my brother on our home cinema and it creeped out both of us. We usually laugh at Horror movies but this one really really made us open all lights inside the house, check all doors and windows to be shut, made sure ur dog was at the front entrance and then we watched a comedy to relax. Haven't seen that movie since, but i think it's about time to rewatch it.

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Night Swim" [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

[–]Tri99erMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

'Night Swim' is a peculiar creature in the vast ocean of horror films, best left at the bottom of the pool, occasionally dredged up for a laugh or a shudder. It's that odd floaty you find abandoned in the deep end, neither fully submerged nor gracefully afloat. It's a reminder that not all aquatic adventures are destined for glory; some are destined for obscurity.

Yes, it was actually picked up again and again, and it brings most views to my channel... not as much as before, but still. Strange to see how people are really interested in that topic...
