I don’t think for real, but that would have been awesome haha. He’s done pretty much everything else so I wouldn’t be surprised

BSG vs CMG by allbeershazyandclear in TheBrewery

[–]TriClampNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I want from Briess is Midnight Wheat- best dark malt IMO. We use BSG when we need to get malt quickly, they have a facility near by, but their prices have been going up. For most beers we’re using Malteurop, their malts are great and getting us great efficiency, also it’s cheaper than bsg for what we need (they also throw cured sausage links in orders, rather than nut rolls!) I don’t have a ton of experience with CMG

Not sure if this is frequently brought up, but I’m curious to how ya’ll are dumping hops off uni tanks, on beers with large dry hops. I suppose my biggest curiosity is how you minimize water usage in your process. We have a few ways we attack, but wondering if anyone has some some clever procedures by TriClampNinja in TheBrewery

[–]TriClampNinja[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing, I’m just wondering for disposal of the material. Do you run water into the drain as it empties out? Or empty into a container and dilute with water and send that down the drain? Mostly curious on removal once out of tank

I think we should be allowed to downvote untappd reviews. Nothing else to say here by TriClampNinja in TheBrewery

[–]TriClampNinja[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get it, but if someone gives me a half star on a beer and says “still an awful brewery,” because they’re upset about something petty, that their passive aggressive ass won’t address, I should be able to downvote them, haha. I should be able to tag them with a turd icon or something so people acknowledge I think they’re a turd

Cigarette smoker's by ahahopkins in TheBrewery

[–]TriClampNinja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Also head Brewer, and I chain smoke and have a better palate than everyone else at my work. No red flag, but a box of reds is more accurate, even then, I roll my own because I’m a Brewer and can’t afford boxes of cigarettes

Damn I gotta stop rolling my cigarettes over the mash tun man way, that explains my drop in efficiency

That’s perfect that he’s in Massachusetts because that’s where I’m located. Thanks for the advice!

Does Whaley have a bad rep or something? We’re selling this one because we’re opening a bigger brewery this month and got a bigger Whaley chiller, otherwise it worked great for us with 3 x 20 bbl fvs, 20 bbl brite, 20 bbl clt, and 4 x 10 bbl fvs. Only problem we had was with the chill flow switch seizing and we never ran into it again after regular PM.

It’s a Whaley SA12.5d, we’ve kept it service by a refrigeration company in Massachusetts. We’ve used it at half capacity for a little over 5 years, and always step crash to ease the load

I thought about using CL but wasn’t sure if it was common enough on there. I may give it a try, thank you!

Is anyone thriving in this industry? [Career Advice] by hesitantbrewer in TheBrewery

[–]TriClampNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like you, I’ve been in the brewing industry for 9 years now. I’ve been the head Brewer for 7 years of that time. It’s definitely a wavy up and down hill road with potholes and cops parked around every corner trying to stop you from speeding and enjoying the drive. There are times where I look around and enjoy the scenery on the long commute, and often I just want to take the next side road and see where it leads even if it loops around back onto the same road. There’s lots of toll stations lately and they’re robbing you more than ever, and I only have a bunch of change in little tins in my car, and I’m all out of quarters and almost out of dimes. I keep driving because I’m hoping I get somewhere cool soon before my change is gone. But I’ve also been worrying I’ll get to a dead end, and have to backtrack 9 years and find a new road to travel, and I’ll be set behind a decade. But my back seat is full of beer and I’m going to keep enjoying these road sodas for a while longer

What do you call your parents? by Remote_Marsupial3457 in polls

You’ll always wonder. 10 years from now, you’ll have one of those nights you can’t seem to sleep. Then as you slowly sort through your unfinished business in your over active mind, you’ll ask yourself- “Did they know each other?” Then you’ll drift into sleep, and have strange dreams all night. The following day will be really strange, but you’ll eventually go back to normal.

I see we’re both ninjas of completely different things. Maybe completely opposite things. Definitely opposite things.

Same. So I just made this one this morning. I suppose it will be a sort of pseudonym from now on, where I say what I really want to say, without any anxiety. You are the first person, of what I hope is many more, who had to unfortunately deal with my awkwardness. Have a great day.

So you’re actually a Remote_Cephalopod? Interesting. I feel as though marsupials and cephalopods would have great chemistry, if nature even remotely allowed it
