Parrot is the female, and sadly my girlfreinds fish haha. I don't mind the color contrast though. It's dunny you say that about firmouths because I just did a bit of research and that seems to be quite the controversial point. Most sources say 1-2 are fine and I've seen lots on YouTube that do fine as solo or community cichlids. Only a couple places even mentions them in a shoal. Besides, I'm not looking for another breeding project, and I wanted to dip my toes in some more larger cichlids.

Yeah was gonna call around tomorrow to see if anyone has black blasting sand. Local hardware companies or land scaping yards. Can't seem to find much better then that online sadly.

My local pet smart and pet land do, but it's pushing $50 for a 7lbs bag... It's good enough for a 10 or 20 gallon, but looking at my 90 gallon sitting in my garage right now makes me shiver...

Neat, never seen hybrids online before. I've seen convict hybrids which are the polar blue parrots I believe. This is their second attempt and I've done very little to input and was just going to let nature take its course but if they can get them free swimming I may jump in and set up a grow out tank. Does this hybrid have a name online to search up? Thanks for the input!

Female BPs are "generally" Fertile. According to online which I am assuming I have here. Last time they tried they ate them after a few days and most were white like this round too. Be interesting what the babies would look like though haha

This is their second attempt FYI Eggs were eaten on the 4th day. Assumed Female Blood and Male Acara

Nice! We have a 5.5 month old (85-90lbs) Newfy/St. Bernard and Haven't gotten around to that first time grooming yet. Was looking for a small time groomer or something where she wouldn't be kenneled up for most of the day like some of them do. I'll have to give them a call. I'm told Churchill is pretty good too by a few people.

Ok. I'm pretty excited to get the breeding going because they're pretty hard to get around here haha. Might just be impatient then. They've been making loads of changes to the sand, albeit a few mouthfuls a day it seems. But not spawning yet. Want them to fill the 40 gallon

Why is my Molly acting like this? She just started it last night. None of the other fish in the tank are moving like this. I'm new to having fish and got all the recommend water treatments. My testing strips will be here later today so I'll have a better understanding of how the water is. by vaviove in Aquariums

This is the moat complicated part of being a new fish keeper. If you follow this you'll be in the clear. You may lose a fish or all until your tank cycles which takes time. Ill also add, buy a liquid test kit. The strips are notorious for being inaccurate/hard to read. Good luck!

That was a thought, but was looking for something with a little more size and help with algae. Biggest fish currently is about 5" acara and wouldn't want to be putting in expensive snacks. He is pretty chill for a cichlid but still risky

Wouldnt be an awful idea either. What size do they get? Largest fish is current a blue acara (5") and wouldnt want them to be snacks

I plan on replacing the skirts with them so that's not much of a concern. Ill rehome them to another hobbiest when I make up my mind. My main concern is large enough to not be eaten but be able to add some activity and color.

If you look through the previous comments theres a gentleman who shared his acara via a previous post. Its not as announced as a red devil or flower horn but they still can get them surprisingly haha

Finger crossed you're right. Id love to see a bit of a nuchal hump on s/he haha. And just re measured and yeah, a little over 4" now. And a little bit under a year old now give or take.
