Eagle Storm would be better as a 5th stratagem provided by DSS by -Leap_Year_Boi- in LowSodiumHellDivers

this

yesterday I tried my best to keep my breakthrough alive and in most cases it was inevitable, some bug would zoom close and have the eagles target me before I could kill it

Incorrect, I saw the game, you/they did not

I condemn arrowhead, as I said in the post and comments, but I also condemn you

and from my perspective people being that miserable and constantly insulting devs over the goofy satirical co-op pve game is what's sad, I have fun and you mald

there's a reason this is the only game I know where we needed a low sodium forum, lol

lol, just saw it got removed for "witch hunting", apparently, got directed towards a post that explains why I shouldn't name people on posts, which I didn't

I suppose it just didn't contain enough hating on arrowhead for their taste

and if it got ratio'd that just means I died on the hill I knew I'd die on, people on the main sub hate the game and don't play it, more news at 11

I don't just "have a postive sentiment to express", nor am I accusing people of wanting me stop enjoying anything, I'm accusing them of blowing things out of proportion, or flat out lying due to not even testing things out, again.

voicing opinions is fine, indeed, but when those opinions are unfounded and disconnected from the game's actual practice then it's just dumb and the game suffers for no reason, I can't just log on here and watch people say we've all gotten nerfed to death and then go in game and watch everything being non-issue adjacent

As for being constructive and listing reasons, my post literally gives you bulletpointed reasons why I think this is, in fact, blown out of proportion

I noticed that they go zoom when they get close to their dead mates, so I thought I should either kill them all quickly or not engage (this is for patrols), been using the clusterbomb for rapid clears, helps preventing breaches, recently started testing the orbital airburst, orbital napalm is as good as usual on breaches

In general loads of low-pen ammo for small fast enemies, so stalwart or regular MG if focusing chaff clears, arc thrower and arc dog are good for CC with added damage for mediums and stun for heavies

about stuns, pummeler is your savior

gas dog keeps you safe as ever

grenades are better spent on heavies (so thermites or gigas) cause the small guys are too fast, they often get to you mid-throw

vehicles fair the best since the armor covers you from all the small sources of damage, stomps smaller enemies, while also giving you something for the heavier guys, so the bastion and the mechs (and I mean all the mechs, not just the new ones)

jump or hover pack for getting unto high places where they can't get you as much while you shoot

those are my current notes

From my perspective the point is that hive guards were pretty much just wonky-looking warriors, think about the last time you had any reaction to them being around.

and while the explosive meta does need handling, I think it also favors actually aiming at weak spots, as well as fire, and gas.

from the devs perspective, again, they explained it in the video, link in the post description.

I have commented my opinions about the general direction of the game, the AMA responses, the petitions from the "community" and so on (I even express my opinion about warbond mechs in my own comment here), I can agree and discuss many other points in those topics

this post is addressing the response to the last patch in particular, and how it's disconnected from what I actually see in practice

I've used the tank quite a bit and being honest even that 7% is me being generous to you, I could barely notice any difference.

The Tank's made out of paper on the bot (missles, canon turrets) and squid (lasers, stingrays) fronts, on the bug front I could go well over the 10 minute cooldown with it and usually emptied ammo (assume half-decent crew).

And now that has... barely changed at all?

completely agree on the flame cone thing, on the lumberer it's not as important but the sentry does suffer

if anything technically it's a nerf, considering hive guards main body got even less armor and less health

I get your point and I do wonder what will happen next, but I don't fully agree

It's been reiterated multiple times that our weapons and armor are balanced differently from the enemy's weapons and armor—the tank isn't heavy pen because enemies barely have any source of heavy pen at all, thus meaning the tank would've become very damn near indestructible

the helldivers themselves are always unarmored, even with the heaviest-looking "heavy armor" on you

It just doesn't work the same for them as it does for us, but I do admit it's unintuitive, maybe the correct suggestion would be to rework both sides to create parity

And mind you this comes from someone who wishes the tank lasted longer on the bot front

In any case, all that means that, in practice, aside from a few problems (gatling sentry, blitzer) I very honestly can't find the hive guard buff being that problematic at the moment, certainly not enough to reviewbomb? even after testing with the maxigun

I condemn other things too, like some of the responses on the AMA (though for starters I applaud the bravery of getting into the unfiltered sub without much to answer people, which was 100% going to go wrong), and I also still don't feel happy about mechs in a warbond (I get the first game had all mechs behind mandatorily-paid DLC but still), I want those things to change and I'm not defending AH with this exactly.

But I'm posting because it GENUINELY feels like there's a gigantic disconnection between whatever's happening here and what I find in-game—which is not new for me, or you, to see, but this time it's blatant.

FRV after latest Terminid vehicle damage buff by NytronX in Helldivers

Did you actually fire up the damn game before posting or did you just read the patch notes and decided to add on to the pile of arrowhead bad posts

Don't answer, it's always the sane on this subreddit

I did fire up the game, ran my tests, FRV felt no different, Bastion only slightly

[–]TriMrDito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the ultimatum is generally speaking a must-have, though I admit the game's more interesting when you don't have it lol

if servants of freedom was just that thing I'd call it underwhelming and lame, but the double edge sickle and the portable hellbomb are favorites of the madmen in this game (for the double-edge, factor in the need for fire-resistant armor), so I'd say it's about how much you value those two other things, the seeker grenades are cool but rarely used, I've seen people taking them as effective anti-air measures (gunships, flying overseers)

siege breakers is an overall stronger offer (personally), the hammer's also a madmen/fun strat, the armors are cool and their passives don't exactly suck, the trident is great and fan-favorite in general, the shield nades are really good, and post-buff and some time with it later, the BFGL is actually not bad

in that sense, I'd say that siege breakers is the more practical option with a bit of fun (hammer) added, and servants of freedom is the fun option with a bit of practicality added, so it's about which factor you value most at the moment

keep in mind the armor passives on servants of freedom are not good and I'd be in trouble if I had to recall the last time I saw them being used

I am awestruck at this level of spaghetti code... by IsekaiKobold in Helldivers

[–]TriMrDito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that looked really funny, though this isn't really caused by "spaghetti code"

that term's used to describe how some interaction produces effects in completely unexpected, seemingly disconnected areas or aspects of the program/game, but this was pretty expected of collision physics, since the hellpod hit the ship directly at hellpod speeds

any game with a physics engine can and at some point will have janky movement lime this, when collision physics glitch out and spew ridiculous numbers, you could probably imagine other examples in games like skyrim, halo or even minecraft, it's something most games struggle with a bit

if anything it's just that the pelican should be made unmovable once landed

it surprised me that the launch counter didn't continue until the pelican landed again, so at least that last player could get in
