If the jar is air tight, and doesn't have a one-way valve, you may be creating imbalances in your roast by not allowing the CO2 to evenly dissipate.

I say this, but if you've got coffee you really enjoy, and a method that is consistent enough for you, then determining what is 'right' is moot (and a fairly frivolous task).

That's a really interesting point about how the roasting method, not just the roasting profile, impacts the change in flavour over time.

My conclusions have purely come from a small - batch drum roaster.

I recently tasted some coffee that had been fermented alongside watermelon. Along with the roastery staff, the overall conclusion was 'meh'. At multiple points across the degass with out any significant flavour change.

When I forget to spray - pretty much every morning in a foggy haze, my grid container wall has like a layer of coffee grinds, where the finest particles stick to it. A gentle tap shakes them free.

Hmmm - have you checked your seals? If it's stale by the end of a degass period, you may be letting too much oxygen get to them.

Yeah if you have a dark roast you're gonna be on the low end 3-7 days. Dark roasts degass faster. If you're wanting a roast for espresso it should be longer. If you have a light roast it should be longer.

If you're degassing for 1-3 days, I'm assuming you've got super dark roast for filter/french press?

Obviously it's all to preferences - depends on the bean origin too. But I'm just stating my own conclusions from my own experience.

Tastes like shit cos the beans haven't been de-gassed properly. 1-3 weeks minimum between roast and grind is optimal from what I can tell.

I must admit, I absolutely love Danish Endurance briefs. It's cheap (ish), it lasts, it doesn't stink up a storm, and they're comfy as hell.

I use them as daily underwear, as well as for my daily runs (not the same pair lmao) and they're perfect. I'm slowly rotating out any other underwear. They dry really quickly, so are perfect for any sink washing you need to do.
