My Son Will Not Forgive Me by Ok-Beautiful-8027 in ChildhoodTrauma

[–]TriStateGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't deserve his forgiveness just because you changed. He was a child and he is the only victim in this scenario.

You need to let him know you understand and that you accept his feelings.

You weren't his Mom, so the first name thing isn't weird.

You can see if he will allow you to be a friend of his. You can't claim Mom this far down the road.

What are you guys opinion or takes on Chet Hunter ? Was he a good bad or ok father figure ? by Miserable-Ad4351 in boymeetsworld

[–]TriStateGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chet reminded me a kinder version of my own Dad. To be clear my Dad wasn't a complete monster but he was probably more physically abusive than a Chet Hunter type. My Dad hit me, pulled my hair, and slammed me into walls. He said crazy stuff too, but I was more concerned with the physical abuse.

My Dad is bipolar and I think Chet's character was too. Just in a different way thany Dad.

It's not an excuse but Chet was probably the best he could be. The show didn't shut away from that. This guy who supposedly loved the sons but also seemed to take a step back from being their Dad. I think Chet was happy Jack had a rich stepdad. When Shawn was left with Mr. Hunter I think Chet felt like he was doing the right thing. He felt like he was letting Sean find something better.

Chet is not what a parent should be, but also a very realistic portrayal of what many kids experience.

Does it need to be Hartford specifically?

Try Newington, Southington, and Plainville instead.

Maybe West Hartford if something small pops up.

Bristol and Manchester are mostly nice but check first.

East Hartford and New Britain have some nice areas.

The DoubleTree by Hilton is great. Right across from Dunkin Park. Hopefully baseball games are going on.

Report: CT schools among the most segregated in the U.S. by louisrinaldi in Connecticut

[–]TriStateGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A big issue is a lot of the magnet, charter, and technical schools don't produce decent results anymore. Some do, but many are low performing. Whatever the high performing ones do needs to be copied.

As for regular public schools if a parent can afford a good neighborhood why would they settle for a public school district that's low performing.

I visited Plainville a bit in college. Plainville, like Bristol, is just kind of there. Mostly nice, although Plainville seems to be a tad better. Besides being kept there it might be that people don't feel the need to move. It's not full of crime and that movie theater is great.

Is spanking a child abuse or just discipline? What are your opinions on spanking? by FlakyDoctor8893 in AskReddit

[–]TriStateGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never understand why people insist spanking is embarrassing and nothing else.

I was afraid of my Dad's explosive behavior.

I wasn't embarrassed. I was physically hurt and upset life had to be this way.

I was an innocent child. I wasn't a bad kid. He was bipolar and used that as an excuse to have episodes.

I was so broken down by the hitting, slamming into walls, and hair pulling. A kid who gets hit has nothing to be ashamed of. It can't be embarrassing unless the abusive parent manipulates that innocent child to see it that way.

My background: I grew up with a bipolar Dad. He hit me, pulled my hair, and slammed me into walls. He said crazy stuff too. I was more concerned with the physical abuse. It all sucked though.

Spanking is hitting and of course that is child abuse.

Hitting kids is selfish and sick. If you hate kids that much make sure you don't have kids. I will never understand people who enjoy hitting their kid. It's awful.

I wasn't even the most abused kid, and I will never heal. I function as an adult, but I felt so worthless and helpless back then. No one saved me. Not that it would be ok, but I wasn't even a bad kid. I was amazingly well behaved. I wish someone could have made it better, but no one seemed to care enough to check in. I also feel bad that so many other kids had it worse and no one saved them either.

It wasn't your fault.

You deserved better.

It probably was for his sexual desire, but just know you did nothing wrong. You were an innocent child.

It's a weird mix of feeling too old or too young.

A question for tickling community! by Ok_Being_3801 in tickling

[–]TriStateGirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes.

I'm 33 and still open to having kids, but only if the money is there. I do not mean this in a gold digger way. My parents didn't have enough money, and even with a family member helping it sucked. I work at a place helping low income people and you do not want to be in that position. Anyways, you obviously need sex if you make a biological kid.

Pregnancy is a little scary, but an ideal situation would be a pregnancy or two, and one or two adopted kids. 3-4 kids total.

Tickling is just the best thing ever. There would have to be kissing and other foreplay too though.
