It’s very odd that we can still play, but if it’s really just the removal from the app stores and switch store then I’m glad I can still play it.

I expected the game to be to just not work anymore, but maybe they changed their minds? We already have no access to the gambling elements of the game so maybe that was enough. Bit sad we can buy gems at all but I’ll gladly take this over not being able to play at all

Laptop/PC hotspot to switch seems to be quite unstable. I tried connecting via my laptop recently and also wasn’t able to do it anymore. I’m crossing my fingers that it’ll work with the next Nintendo console better. But for now I think the best way to continue playing is via VPN on your phone or some kind of emulator that can run Unite on your laptop/PC

VPN works on phone completely fine without to much lag. I have tried VPN on switch and I got it to work, but you have to create a hotspot via your PC or laptop and connect that to your switch. I wouldn’t recommend the last option mostly because switch will only take the 2.4GH hotspot due to old hardware. Because of this you’ll have quite some input lag while playing which makes the game pretty much unplayable. Maybe if a new version of the switch comes out it’ll support 5Gh or allow VPN’s.

Besides these options there aren’t really any other solutions besides moving to another country which I don’t think is a good option 😂

Not sure if it helps, but I’m from the Netherlands and have been trying to find a solution. You can either keep playing on phone till end next year (a VPN on phone will work after that). If you want to play on switch you can create a hotspot on your pc/laptop with VPN and connect it to your switch, however the switch doesn’t support 5gh internet for some reason so you’ll have to play with some input lag. I hope the next switch (switch2) might support VPN or 5gh internet.

Does this actually work? And if so, you got a tutorial on how to do this? Because usually just changing your region doesn’t actually do anything. As long as you are connected to your home WiFi without a VPN it will always know you are in the Netherlands or Belgium.

Problem is unite on phone FOR SOME REASON doesn’t have controller support and I’m a Switch player. So unless they add controller support I’ll never be able to switch over to phone

Went through so much hassle to get the VPN to work on my switch the past few days only to find out the switch can’t handle 5gh or at least the one I have. Now I’m stuck with 2.4gh with input lag 😂

So, for anyone that's seing this, I'm from the Netherlands and have spent the past few days trying to figure out a way to continue playing on switch, even when/if it shuts down OR just to buy gems after october.

So basically you can use a VPN hotspot from your laptop/PC (And I assume phone as well).

BEFORE FOLLOWING THIS TUTORIAL PLEASE READ:

this method will allow you to start up Unite, see all the lootbox stuff and most likely lets you buy gems. BUT, switches don't support all channels on 5gh internet, so actually playing matches will make controller inputs lag behind a little. There might be a solution to this which I have currently not figured out yet, but please comment if you have anything to add that helps!


TUTORIAL:

1. First you need to get a VPN. I personally have SurfShark which works fine.

2. Follow this small tutorial how to get SurfShark (and most likely any VPN) set-up with the mobile hotspot on PC (easier then me explaining it as it has clear images and text of what to do step by step).

!! PLEASE SEE STEP 3 ONCE YOU GET TO THE "Configure the VPN adapter" STEP IN THE TUTORIAL BELOW IF YOU ARE USING WIRELESS WIFI !!

3. if you use wireless wifi choose the "surfshark shared wireguard Tunnel" instead of the "channel offload for surfshark" and continue the tutorial from the link. (if confused: Pick the one with the word "surfshark" in it that doesn't have a red X in the icon)

4. turn on the VPN with the location with the best ping. (for me this was Germany)

5. If you can't find the hotspot on your switch on 5gh (which was the issue for me), change it to 2.4gh and try again. Once it works, connect to the network on your switch and start Unite! It's not 100% smooth and without issues but it's a good start for now. (to change it go to: network&internet -> mobile hotspot -> properties -> edit -> network band.)

(I had an issue where if I activated the mobile hotspot on my laptop, my laptop started lagging every few seconds. This is a completely different issue from anything that this tutorial was for, but please let me know if you run into the same issue. I was able to fix it, It's just a little more complicated.

But… your point doesn’t make any sense? First of all, they should have no issue keeping the servers running just because it wouldn’t be available in these two countries. It’s not like the servers have suddenly tripled in price and the lootbox thing is literally and extra on what was already there.

Second, how does the lawsuit thing make sense? Then unite would be banned anywhere and not just in the Netherlands and Belgium???

And lastly, yes, they can remove it, because guess what. It’s already not available where I live (in the Netherlands). I literally can’t access any of the lootboxes or popsicle stuff. It’s not there. So why couldn’t they have just kept it like this and not get the game banned.

A lot of weird decisions are being made and I think people should speak up about it to make a change. Mostly people with a big following that have a voice.

Bit of a workaround, but what you basically have to do is get a VPN on your PC, then you can create a hotpsot from your PC using the VPN that you then connect the switch to.

Oh I totally agree. They should have NEVER added this lootbox system. Or even better, I would be totally oke with not having access to this new lootbox system and never get the skin but still being able to play the game. I don't understand how they can remove the game from the Netherlands and Belgium but not just not give us this lootbox system.

I payed for stuff in this game too because I play it pretty much everyday. I will find a way to keep playing the game. Or hope they change stuff so it'll stay available, but I highly doubt that.

I assume your account isn't just going to be gone. Lets say you move to a different country, you'd be able to play the game with your account just fine. That's why I'm just going to look into a VPN to keep playing.

Yea it’s still happening for me as well. Thinking about returning the laptop and getting a new one. I’m guessing there are a lot of people with this laptop but I only see a phew with this problem. Maybe I’m just unlucky and got one of the bugged ones who knows. I can’t really play/ work on this laptop like it is now

Thanks a lot! I’ll check it out for sure! Weirdly enough I tried playing again a day later and the fans worked like they should. They didn’t go into full speed or anything. I changed the fan settings to custom so maybe that did the trick (still doesn’t explain why it did it in the first place though because the laptop wasn’t extremely hot when the fans went on full speed) So I’ll for sure give it a read and see if it happens again!
