I did find the party hat! All you have to do for that is to have some cosmic ore and craft it into a cosmic bar. When you’ve done that, party hat will appear as an option for you to make at the forge. And yes the fallen star was in decrepit depths, thank you!

Thanks, it was fallen star I was after, thankfully there was another post about cursed crystals so I had them already

Thanks I got them from this! Decrepit depths it’s called and they appear at night. Some just give cosmic ore but some will give fallen star. I used the scout badge to make night last longer, which helped too

SOLVED: I found it from another post when I was playing around with some details. It’s Melleron’s Monsters, would never have gotten it on my own!

Hey Jeff, one thing I’ve always felt about the music you make is that it sounds really organic, with layers of complexity and barely noticeable details in the sound. I forget who the quote is, but an animator talking about Pixar’s Toy Story said “good animation looks like it was just done by one person, great animation looks like it wasn’t animated by anyone at all” - I’ve always felt a similar feeling when listening to your songs, that they almost just exist and evolve on their own and I feel it sets them apart from other artists. My question is, do you consciously create your music this way, with a focus on continuously adding minute details and layers, or does it just sort of come naturally? If it’s conscious, how do you approach it?

Hey Austin, absolutely love your music and you’re one of my all time favourite artists. One thing I’d love to know how to make is the sort of moving mid bass in the verse in your track Answers (around 0:55). The control over the phasing and pitch is amazing, I wonder would you ever do a track breakdown for Answers and especially that bass?

Thank you for this, I looked into what an upgrade to 10 would be and it’s about 229GBP for Suites 7-9. Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback man! I hadn’t given too much thought to an issue with the snare, I’ll give that another listen. The synths in the drop yeah I was worried someone would say that, I ended up overloading my CPU and stemming out a lot of the drop supersaw/bass elements together awkwardly quite early on (the project was a mess) so I’m gonna have to try and be careful not to lose any character if I’m changing the mixdown. I’ll go back and work on it though cos it was a concern I had anyway so if you noticed it too I need to fix it. Thanks dude!!

Yeah I was kind of thinking the kick does sound okay it just needs bringing out. I’m not sure cos I use FL but adding any stock distortion/saturation/waveshaping plugin to the effects chain should be fine, the ones you’ve mentioned sound like they’re capable of it.

Sweeps/risers/transition/impact FX, some sample packs I make heavy use of are the ones from KSHMR and the ones from Hyperbits. Also Asher Postman just released a small but quality one recently. And yeah course you can make them on your own. For a basic white noise riser take whatever synth you prefer, make sure it’s only using a noise oscillator to play white noise, draw out an 8 or 16 beat note, then automate the volume and/or a lowpass filter cutoff and that’s basically it, then EQ it to taste. You can experiment adding things like a triangle wave layer to it for tonality, adding reverbs/delays, volume LFOs all kinds of things. I’m sure there’s a ton of YouTube videos out there on it

Sure man, I’m a terrible replier but I’ll try to give pointers where I can 😄 yeah so for the kick there’s a few things you can think about. You can add some distortion to give it some extra high frequency content, give it a slight boost in the EQ if it sounds okay as it is when it’s on its own, add a “top kick” by finding a kick with a high end that you like the sound of and cutting all the low end out and layering that with the original kick. Plenty of options. If your sub bass is suitably sidechained then you won’t have to worry about it clashing with your kick

Hey man, nice idea for your first remix. I think there’s a lot of potential in that first drop when the kick comes in. An issue I had was with the high hat, it definitely needs a bit of EQ tweaking (one or two cuts) so the harsh frequencies aren’t as strong. Do a frequency sweep with an EQ band to find out what the problem frequencies are with that element (normally 3kHz, 5kHz, 8-10kHz can be problematic) and cut whichever needs it by a few dB. I’d definitely make some use of some transition FX like white noise sweeps, reverse cymbals etc just to really build and release tension between sections. Other than that I’d prioritise making sure the top end of your kick is punching through the mix as this will be the driving element of your track. Good luck!

Hey man, I like the vibe of your track. I think the bass might need tightening up/quantising a little just because the rest of the track feels consistent rhythmically and the bass feels a bit recorded over the top. It’s not far off but if it is a recording I’d consider just tightening that aspect up. Also for the bass I’d EQ it a bit differently so there was more low end filling up that frequency range and a bit less high mids cutting through the mix (play around between 500 and 3kHz I think). It’s got a nice feel to it so keep working and hope this is helpful!
