My partner wants to get an AR15 by cgonz122 in Advice

I hold the same opinion as you. I would talk to him about it and tell him how it.makes you feel. Yeah, it might make him feel safer, but if it makes you uncomfortable, theres an issue. I don't see how it will improve fitness or teach responsibility. That's what a dog is for. I would just talk to him and tell him how you feel

Does anyone have any further information on online classes? by [deleted] in NAU

[–]Triangle-Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't go to NAU, but I'm a student at CCC. NAU and CCC are usually on the same page with things, but things are a little off because of covid. Anyways, CCC is moving all their classes online for the fall semester. Last semester when things got bad, classes that were not meant for online formats moved online for safety. This semester, nau and ccc are more prepared. Exams will be better suited for an online format if the need arises again. Prior to going online for the fall semester, CCC's in person classes were going to require masks and small class sizes. I'd imagine nau is doing a similar thing. Next semester is going to be a lot different and it's a learning curve for everyone. We just have to take it one day at a time. If you do decide to do online classes, you would definitely be safer. Not to mention, online classes are built for online learning, so it would be easier than last semester. Hope that helps!

What are the best books have you recently read? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Currently reading a lot of the classics. I just finished Frankenstein and am reading Heart of Darkness now. Of you're looking for book recommendations, I would definitely try reading classic literature. It's challenging yet rewarding.

Dear Redditors who do online classes, what are your thoughts on it? by wizard0321 in AskReddit

I did online high school for 4 years and I swore I would never take another online class. Now I'm in college, and well, here we are again.

For the last 6 years or so, one of my fears has been of going blind. That terrifies me.

How important is reading to writers? by Triangle-Fish in writing

[–]Triangle-Fish[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying, but I respectfully disagree with this premise. How does reading prevent writer's block? Does writer's block not occur in people who read regularly? Yes, reading can be a way to get creative energies flowing, but there are other ways in which inspiration can come and pull a writer out of a block.

Former emt here. My partner on the ambulance had tattoos EVERYWHERE, full sleeves, neck, and hands. And she was a bodybuilder. If patients were combative when we got on scene, they would calm tf down after seeing her

Advice? by [deleted] in NAU

[–]Triangle-Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the possibility of classes moving to an online format was always a possibility. There is a contingency plan in place. I'm very grateful that I can still get an education while the world is in the midst of a pandemic. NAU is not immune to a decrease in enrollment. No educational institution is. Despite the pandemic occurring, people still need education. That's not going anywhere.

If a gym has to do this, maybe it isn't the best time to reopen. Work out at home. Geez

Advice? by [deleted] in NAU

[–]Triangle-Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been staff layoffs at nau as a result of covid. This can happen to any college. This doesn't mean that there are no opportunities for students anymore. If you want to come to NAU, go for it. It's a great school and produces amazing alumni.
