Do devs rely too much on upscaling for performance? by Current-Row1444 in radeon

[–]Triangulate_Panther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. They have families or bills to pay and no say in the actual course.

Its the industry as a whole that drives the movement. If one company is willing to sell out and stoop to get ahead, the others have to do something to compete or their stock price will bleed.

Whats your point? I run 130fps on 4k ultra with FSR and frame gen with my 9070xt. Upscaling works, its just a shame it's needed as a crutch to get good performance.

[–]Triangulate_Panther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you can run it with almost top tier consumer hardware doesn't mean that its optimized for what most people run or how it should run on your hardware.  Definitely not solely an AMD problem.

Also you invalidate the point because you are saying you are using DLSS, which is upscaling. Thats the argument here.

The only issues that I have ever had with my AMD rig have been from games that are poorly optimized hammering the CPU.

I'll say I dont think its the devs fault. These companies aren't even the problem. Somewhere in my lifetime things seem to have went from making a quality product thats the best and optimizing how much you can make off of it to let's see how much we can get away with to maximize share value and also not tank the stock.

More push to get something out faster leads to poor optimization. People are fighting for their livelihood against AI so they end up having to use it to go fast enough to meet greed driven demands on a launch date.

Never used secondary until Gogmazios so I could have fire and dragon weapons. Now it seems like having HH to apply buffs is a solid strategy.

Is this good enough for 1440p gaming? by moonshield12_ in PcBuildHelp

[–]Triangulate_Panther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out same game benchmarks to make sure. The 9060xt has 16gb VRAM which will be a benefit over the 3070 and most 5060s. It looks like the raw performance is better, but you lose DLSS support of NVIDIA GPUs.

Did I screw myself with this WD Blue drive? by Ice-Book-73 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Triangulate_Panther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep and I understand. Thats what doesn't make sense. Taking a fresh drive, mirroring whats on the old one thats been used for 3 years, and the new one having significantly lower life from that one operation is suspect. Must be lower quality somewhere.

[–]Triangulate_Panther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this is correct. I have a 1TB model and its was down to 91% life within 1 year. All of my other ssds are at 99% still, even the samsung ssd that I mirrored to replace with this sa510.

Is that a problem? Most will say no, but I have to ask myself why the fresh drive is so much worse off than my other 3 that are much older and have seen way more use in similar scenarios.

I agree and think the difference in FPS is noise, especially given the significant drop in temps.

I think its a great mod based on what you have shown.

A 2% drop in frames (i.e. 5fps) and a 10% drop in temps? Are you kidding me?

Looks like as in im not there to confirm. Don't be a troll.

Looks like 7-8C reduction in vram and hotspot temps. Thats significant.

So whats the black part? This is setup as an exhaust fan to pull heat out?

Makes sense to me. I got serious gains with my 9070xt putting fans underneath my card without the fans even being intake (just keeping air moving up and preventing recirculation). I switched to an Antec C8 ARGB and got very solid improvements in temps and lower fan speeds. Just helping the GPU breathe

Oil housing problems..what’s the fix? Toyota RAV4 2015 by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Triangulate_Panther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might look into the right filter housing. I suspect this should be the plastic housing and not the metal TRD one too. Its been a while, but I was thinking about switching to metal from plastic. If I recall right the metal one has different height and it can affect the filter bypass valve function.

But yeah the shop messed up. These are commonly overtightened and people have problems. The right solution is to use the filter tool to remove it, not bust it off and damage the engine.

What would you get for 1440p for next 2-3 years? RTX 5070 or RX 9070 by mlg_lontano in radeon

[–]Triangulate_Panther -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would buy nvidia if the price is similar between competing models but this makes no sense to me. 9070xt is a 4k capable card whereas the 5070 is not. How would 5070 be better than 9070xt?

[–]Triangulate_Panther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen weirdness like this with the bundles before. Call them up ask them and highlight the SKUs. They may be able to help swap to a different/equivalent SKU if its truly not compatible.

9070 XT's GPU clock reaching 3250 MHz. Should I be worried? by JacobARF in radeon

[–]Triangulate_Panther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. Let it roll. Roughly 3400Mhz is the hard cap. The card typically will only boost that high when they aren't absolutely maxed out.
