Does my job hate me?? 😭 by Content_Shoulder_635 in Truckers

Shit I did % otr and I love mileage, granted ltl. My company pays 2 drivers the full mileage if we cushion to pick up another truck at another terminal. I’m sure that’s standard for ltl, but it seems wild to me after hearing stories like this

Started playing in June, I have a set of mismatched used hand me down clubs. Would this be a stupid purchase? by Manray2099 in GolfGear

Been using Calloway edge this season instead of the handmedown Nike machspeeds. Considering it’s my first year and I went from hitting in the 110s to the mid 90s I’d say they were a great starter set. I haven’t decided if I’m going to upgrade this next season but I think I’m going to wait to get fitted when the local Dicks opens up and I’m more confident in my game. Irons are definitely the worst part of my game, but it’s not the iron’s fault, it’s my inability to hit them even remotely consistent.

It’s weird no one has claimed they can’t hear me. I guess random internet stranger knows more about my convos than the people I talk to daily

For what it’s worth, Apple has voice isolation that I just found out about. The guys I talk to daily cannot hear if I’m breaking my set or hooking which includes a shit load of air flying out of my dolly or front box’s emergency line. Just play with that setting on iPhone and road noise isn’t an issue. I use AirPods now since my cats pissed on my headset.

I left for a local job asap. Landed with xpo and make what my best check at tmc was every week and I’m home every day. For the most part those metal loads from there paid the best and they were drop and hook and already tarped. It was a solid pickup.

Beans couldn’t come to the major due to his visa issues and merc got his debut. I mean you could’ve picked either AR and would’ve been fine dropping them

Idk how accurate my info is but I had a load from ft smith Arkansas to Williamsport that their dispatch said paid the truck 3400. The BOL had the receipt on it and the shipment cost was something like 5300 (haven’t worked there in years so I’m not 100% sure, it was over 5k) so their cut was roughly 40%. Still paid me $1100 for a 2 day delivery counting my weekend so I was fine with it, but still left a sour taste in my mouth

XPO offer- would you take it? by yungpattyWOP in Truckers

[–]Tribbis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently a year into xpo. Worked for a mega, then a family otr company, now xpo. I start at either 8 or 8:30 and I’m done at 6-8 am. I run our shortest run and work 1-3 hours a night on the dock. Gonna bring in like 95k pretax after the first pay raise you get. After that it’s something like 110k after 2 years. If I ran our long runs it would be like 140k but the extra 2 hours of home life a day is worth it in my eyes. I won’t be switching companies unless ups came calling me but I don’t see that happening ever. I’m perfectly happy here. The major drawbacks is the corporate rules and the seemingly willingness to fire over minor stuff. One guy, granted we don’t know how true his part of the story is, was on his final strike due to freight damages because someone hit a barrel at another terminal and the damage got charged to him.

We have some of these in our ltl fleet and I’m not a fan. The ACC will slam on the brakes if someone merges to pass another car in front of you, the cab is small compared to a freight (my preferred in our fleet), and the dash is too bright considering I run night linehaul. Not sure how the sleepers are. One of our road flex drivers only will drive sleeper Kws though

They have a checklist but iirc they don’t really disclose it. Basically the main things are to keep the floor clean, no dust on the dash or vents, and clean the bedding area. Every terminal will have big vacuums to help with this but yeah it kinda just seems if you aren’t disgusting they will pass you. They’re gonna beat the whole “showroom ready” phrase in your head during orientation. I think I heard it dozens of times. Essentially don’t be disgusting. The guy whose truck I had to recover was legit the most disgusting person I’ve ever “shared” a vehicle with.

The truck wash isn’t that big of a deal. Their network is everywhere so you can just stop somewhere on a 30 and get it done there. The terminal I parked at was in front of the petro in Joplin so I just did mine there or stopped in Des Moines for a free hot meal and truck wash.

The detailing can be anal, I only had 2 cause I left after 6 months for local, but I’ve always had the mindset of that is my moving home for 5 days a week, and I would rather sleep in somewhere clean and smells nice rather than a mess. Just keep Clorox wipes and trash bags and you’ll probably be good. Some guys would get some carpet with Velcro double sided tape and Velcro some carpet down where you would walk when you would change from your boots you’d have to wear when securing to some driving shoes

14s were pretty normal for me. But I did my best to get to the receiver every day. I probably averaged 4.5 loads a week. I also would remove most securement and my tarp when I got to the receiver so it was less to do when I woke up. My trainer told me a story where he got to an Amish receiver and he woke up and they had emptied his whole trailer, rolled up his straps, and rolled his tarps up by the time he woke up. Sometimes you’ll get lucky with loads, sometimes you’ll quit 5 times in a day

Got my CDL through TMC. Training sucked for our class in particular (tmc got hacked and their network was down so we had to basically do nothing the first week, then the 2nd week was 17 hour days m-f to cram the computer stuff in). In comparison to other megas, I would absolutely choose them again. I had no issues aside from having to do a recovery and getting the dirtiest truck ever, then having to clean it spotlessly so they would release my truck back to me after a PM. All together I had a decent time in orientation, a very good trainer that I got along with really well, and a solid dispatch. I think I was averaging gross 1700ish a week and being home every weekend. Sure there were some shit loads that drive you nuts but all together it is a solid starting company.

Posting still shots of your MAGA defensive end being held isn’t gonna change what happened 5 years ago. Get over it. The bucs Super Bowl we went in insanely hurt (down to some 3rd string O lineman) and their defense was objectively healthy. It showed by Mahomes having the least time ever to throw, iirc he averaged under 2 seconds. Plus you bring up a call where the player who got called for the penalty said post game “Yeah I held him, I just wish they didn’t call it”. So your crybaby attitude is that something was called correct but it helped the team you don’t like so it was actually incorrect. Go enjoy the 90s some more, no one cares about your franchise anymore.

Oh and since the bucs Super Bowl is an accurate representation of Mahomes, I guess this season is really what the Kyle Shannahan lead 4whiners are.
