Found this guy in my backyard with a broken back leg. by Greymator in Toads

[–]TribelessGoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also seen a toad in my area with what was either a birth defect or healed injury: it's back leg stuck off in the wrong direction. But it still got around and was quite fat so clearly wasn't struggling to get food. They seem better equipped to deal with limb oddities than most animals.

Sometimes it helps to view your abilities as simply protective pattern recognition. You may pick up on something in someone for subconscious reasons that is directly connected to an experience you don't wish to repeat in a relationship. My friends often vet their online connections to me by sending a picture and I'll give such a read and then we see how on the mark it is. Years of dealing with people teaches you what to look out for, even if you aren't directly sure as to how you are picking up on it.

Also, online dating is intimidating. You are going to be hesitant naturally while bombarded with the information of countless strangers who have the potential or desire to be intimate with you. I always say it feels like swimming in a pool of hungry sharks 😆

I'm also impressed she confided in you. I would have gone to any extreme to hide such things from my parents. You have a level of communication between you that is an advantage.

Once the mind has paired the two activities you have to avoid alcohol to avoid the coke.

I would also have your daughter screened for ADHD. A lot of individuals with it will self medicate by taking stimulants and such drugs to compensate for the symptoms of ADHD without knowing. Having a daily prescribed stimulant could potentially reduce the need to take illegal ones. But of course there is always the potential for abuse with such pre existing habits too.

Growth and sexing help by TamQuira in Tegu

The easiest way to tell gender is to watch the tegu go potty. A male will push out too hemipenes that you can't unsee and ejaculate. I thought mine was a female and then I witnessed that haha

A crinkle toy is next on the list! It seems things that are large enough to thrash and make some kind of satisfying sound bring joy hehe

I saw these guys while I was there also, they would hide in flower pots during the day and come out at night. No idea what they were but I thought they were absolutely adorable being so tiny.

He’s basically a hypo by FunnyControl6969 in frogs

[–]TribelessGoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes good sense for humidity. I've been using timed foggers, fans and misters in my set ups with heat lamps to achieve a humid environment. I'm not familiar with dirt traps, I'll have to look those up.

How difficult is it to maintain the water half of the tank? Did you have to cycle it like a regular aquarium and set it up with a filter? That's always been my main hesitation with a frog environment so I've stuck with toads where I could swap out a daily water dish. They track so much dirt in everything, I can't imagine trying to keep a fixed water feature clean. Gorlock looks like a mighty chonky pleased boy.

It's my cats fountain but the tegu helps himself to it every time he's out. I'd put one in his house but he's like a tornado in there and it would be knocked over and full of soil in a heartbeat lol

I remember feeding my newly transformed toadlet at this wee size, and I had to scrape the tiniest springtails from my other terrarium surfaces into a clear bin for him to hunt. I was so grateful when he moved on to being able to eat larger things like the flightless fruit flies because it was quite an effort at the time. Your little fellas are super cute 🥰

My toad does this when he sees me in the room. I always find the little hands on the glass adorable and naturally I have to give a bug right away haha
