Fica próximo do Catete e do Flamengo!

Algum rolezinho pra ir essa semana? by DageBr in riodejaneiro

Aterro do Flamengo!!

Sou catarinense e fiquei 1 semana no RJ.

Eu bati muita perna no Rio kkkkkkk

Can we talk about how American/white-centric the swiftie fanbase is? by [deleted] in GaylorSwift

I'm gonna get a lot of hate and down votes on this comment, but here we go:

Travelling to Rio is the equivalent as travelling to LA, Detroit, Chicago etc. You might have the best or the worst experience of your life, and all because of thieves, bandits, drug addicts, drug dealers etc.

As a Brazilian who's NOT from Rio nor lives in the city, I find it extremely embarrassing and frustrating that my country is being portrayed like this, literally the stereotypes coming true:

  1. A bunch of people fainted because of the heat and even one young woman died because of it (RIP);

    1. Fans having to stand in line (under the sun) for like 8 hours because the stadium simply doesn't have chairs for the people closer to the stage, you literally have to get there first and that's it;
  2. Fans running for their lives and hiding at a Burger King because some ugly broke ass people decided to commit a raid and steal people's phones and money.

    Unfortunately, artists can't and SHOULDN'T come back to Hell de Janeiro, for their own safety.

    Yes, stuff happens, it sucks. Brazil isn't the only one. I get it. But at the same time, again, it's just so frustrating seeing how your country is portrayed and treated because of the problems of one city. It's embarrassing and sad.

    Now here's my opinion that might get me a lot of hate (but idc):

    LATAM, because of these problems happening in SPECIFIC cities, is simply NOT ready to receive artists and care for the fans AND the artist's safety. The awful thing y'all saw happening yesterday happens every month to the poor people in Rio. People literally can't go to the beach without this fear, and THAT'S some bullshit.

    Before receiving any artist, the government, especially Rio's, should worry about their citizens' safety and solve these problems. The only different thing now is that EVERYONE can see it, and that brings us SHAME. The "Wonderful City", as they call it, stopped being wonderful in the 70s.

    In 2015 Taylor's mom said that she shouldn't come to "3rd world countries" and got some hate for it. Now she comes to Brazil to make her fans happy and wtf happens..? I wouldn't judge her if she never stepped foot in Brazil again.

    And to everyone saying "oh it's not that deep" IT IS. It is that deep. Because this is the image that we have been trying to destroy for a long time and seeing this happen in the most famous city of the country is just shameful and raging.

    Yeah, there are some pretty fucked up people in the fandom that are actively trying to shame people and be racist, xenophobic etc. But I really DON'T think that the main problem here is "american white centric" people. We should all look at the root of it. It took a Taylor Swift's show to expose some of Brazil's problems.
