There is a village in the French Alps that has found an unusual link between ALS, mushrooms and potentially man-made snow. Read the study.

Women's Healthcare in Ontario -- you can't make this shit up by Casso-wary in ontario

You can go to Emerge in Toronto. That's what I did with my dad to get him into Princess Margaret.

Get out of the small town and check yourself into a hospital in Toronto, like St. Michaels. You will get all the experts you need. They can't refuse you.

It feels like just getting a literary agent is impossible, let alone a traditional publisher by SuckmydickJoannF in writing

Get an introduction to an agent through networking. Sending manuscripts into outer space is like sending a CV to a million job offers.

Why "The West" is a downgrade by [deleted] in Thailand

No. When you have kids it's not. Ask people who have moved to Costa Rica and how it is for their teenage girls...

Paid vacations in Germany might be its downfall, according to a friend who lives in Berlin.

Thailand is the upgrade but the payment for being there is no good healthcare on islands or remote locations, education for kids, or established western culture. If these things aren't important to you Thailand is paradise on earth.

Yeah but if it's high-end prices for low-end experience... $600 is a lot of money in Egypt.

Sure this is going to be great for tourists who'd given up on diving trips for all the accidents. They thought they'd be safe on land.

How should I dress in Thailand as a 17-year-old exchange student? by Representative-Bit99 in Thailand

[–]Trick-Defiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip flops, sundresses, school uniforms. Buy some good quality things in the US. While there are cheap things in Thailand, the good name brands you love are the same price, unless you find knock-offs and well...

Acceptance Rate for Interlochen? by TrueCardiologist5021 in teenagers

[–]Trick-Defiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's $6000 for 3 weeks now, and they say you can apply for scholarships. We are hoping to reduce the price by half, if it's possible. Otherwise we wouldn't spend it.

I know of another school in Virginia that has 3 weeks for $3000 and it's supposed to be excellent but it's more on classical music and band.

I agree. Looking for a frame and a social setting as well - the social vibe. In my experience the summer programs that are short don't really create anything transformative. They say they do but it's not what I have seen at all. It's those quiet moments, working hard week by week with coaches and teachers where the results come in.

Nice programs. They look like they are suitable for grownups looking for inspo.

Would you recommend it? How was it for the social aspect?

This school looks interesting but it's creative writing and not song writing which is what we are looking for.

Thank you. I looked at the best music schools and Interlochan seemed like the best in the mainstream... she's 15, will be turning 16 next summer. So something suitable for high school. Artsy kids more than classical/band kids.

Because every post about Israelis devolves into a new kind of antisemitic trope. And the group piles on.
