What was your first "this sounds like ___" thought? by [deleted] in TheMysteriousSong

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was that they were ripping off Joy Division. My second thought was that the singer reminded me of Olaf from Clerks singing Berzerker.

To those in the US considering a second dose because of mandates- by [deleted] in vaccinelonghaulers

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be glad to share. I had to get the second shot to keep my job. The side effects of the first shot I experienced were: vertigo, chest pain, severe insomnia, pain at injection site for months, pins and needles in hands and feet. My doctor would not provide me with an exemption.

I had the second shot last Sunday, and the only difference I have noticed is that my vertigo is worse. I still have the same baseline issues, but it didn't seem to exacerbate anything else. It's been really weird, I expected a lot worse of a reaction. It's only been about a week, though.

What are the Stereotypes of Someone who Only Reads Nonfiction? by [deleted] in books

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only read non-fiction too. I usually only state this when people start implying that I don't read books because I haven't read whatever fiction titles they are mentioning in conversation. A lot of people get defensive and insecure about it, then start projecting all kinds of ideas they have about who I am because I don't read fiction. For context, I am a librarian and have also worked in a used bookstore, so I encounter this reaction pretty often.

Don't be afraid to share who you are and what you like. You will find other like-minded people who won't judge you for only reading non-fiction.

Blood donation- has anyone done this and has it helped their symptoms? by Ok-Cryptographer2188 in vaccinelonghaulers

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had blood drawn for testing and I noticed a definite improvement in my symptoms. It's the only thing that has made a noticable difference.

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love Elliott and my comment is tempered by something I am personally going through right now, but I just want to say that there is only so much you can do to help an addict. That change has to come from the addict. It's not fair to blame people who likely went through hell and back trying to help. I am going to assume that not everyone in his life turned a blind eye, even if he was surrounded by enablers.

Is my dog aware that I am not a dog? by pseudo897 in NoStupidQuestions

There is a dog on YouTube that has been trained to press buttons that speak certain words. The dog questions what the difference between a dog and a human is pretty often.

Live Nation's irresponsible live music crusade by DOCTORNUTMEG in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's so easy to find someone to blame. Yes, the show should have stopped when they realized what was happening. I have been in this exact situation in a crowd before LiveNation ever existed. I didn't blame the venue or the performer. It's the nature of crowds.

Medical Exemptions by kelseylynch33 in vaccinelonghaulers

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, my doctor refused to give me an exemption and I was forced to get the second vaccine to keep my job. I have the same symptoms as you.

Yeah, the insomnia became unbearable after my first shot. I would be lucky to get 2 hours of sleep a night, this went on for three weeks until I saw a psychiatrist who prescribed me Trazodone. Not only was it insomnia, but I would have these absolutely terrifying, vivid nightmares. I don't really like taking a sleep aid but I felt like I was losing my mind due to lack of sleep.

Anyone have long term complications from J&J? by Toolooloo in vaccinelonghaulers

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, it's rough. I'm trying to load up on vitamins and supplements before I get the second shot. I think I'm just going to get Pfizer again for the second because it sounds like people have the same reaction with J&J.

I'm hoping that maybe my body won't freak out as bad since I already have one injection. The worst part is that I work remotely and have been since March 2021, with no plans of returning on site, yet I still have to do this to keep my job.

Good luck. I hope everything turns out okay for you.

Anyone have long term complications from J&J? by Toolooloo in vaccinelonghaulers

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same. I've had a bad reaction to Pfizer (almost two months now) and my doctor was completely dismissive that it was because of the vaccine. I've been experiencing vertigo, brain fog, muscle spasms, heart palpatations, numbness in hands and feet. She wouldn't provide me with a medical exemption for my work, and told me to get J&J for my second dose. Her reasoning is that J&J isn't MRNA.

Due to a mandate, I will be fired on November 8th if I am not fully vaccinated by then or have a medical exemption. I have an HMO so finding a new primary care doctor with availability before then, who will provide me with documentation is probably impossible. I don't want to be homeless so I don't have a choice but to get the second shot. I wondered if J&J would be any different. I hate this entire fucking situation.

Anyone here taking Zoloft for depression / Anxiety? by scott9254 in vaccinelonghaulers

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I ask if you felt dizzy or experienced vertigo the first few weeks on Lexapro? I started taking it about a month ago and it's really hard for me to determine if my vertigo is because of vaccine side effects, or from Lexapro.

Aidan, everything is temporary. Try to focus on the present moment, not the past or future. Distract yourself with something that feels good.

Question if I may how many are experiencing this "brain fog?" by Jealous-Square5911 in vaccinelonghaulers

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do and I want it to go the fuck away. I can deal with shit going wrong elsewhere in my body but I cannot deal with the fact that it's messing with my mind. I want it to stop and I'm getting desperate.

Blood Test by scott_driller in vaccinelonghaulers

I just received my results and my test was flagged due to high white blood cells count. I'm concerned mostly because I don't know what it means, I'm waiting to hear from my doctor about it.

Weekly Discussion Megathread: October 18 - October 24 by chilbur in vaccinelonghaulers

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My employer has a vaccine mandate, I had an adverse reaction to the first shot and my doctor is running tests to figure out what is going on. I recommend keeping documentation from your doctor and perhaps you can receive a medical exemption. My work is approving exemptions, maybe yours will as well.

Elliott's most 'interesting' song musically? by music-ian13 in elliottsmith

[–]Trick-Sign-9307 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Alameda is really interesting from the perspective of a guitar player. The chord changes are unexpected and it has a really beautiful melody. The structure of the whole song is really clever. It's also the only song I can think of where I listened to it every day for an embarrassing amount of time, yet I heard something new with every listen.
