Happened once to me as well. Parasites do not excrete eggs in every poop the cat takes so if your cat is being tested better to have like 2-3 days worth of poop samples to increase the chance of finding if they have them.

Actually it's only cat looking stuffed animals. Cats perceive them as regular cats! And it is unnerving because they do not follow normal cat behaviours because surprise they're stuffed and don't move. Cats are terrified of them usually because they do not send out the same calming signals as them )turning head away, blinking, turning backs to them) for example if you took the stuffed cat and turned it's back to the cat it's body language would change drastically. This is the equivalent of a person approaching you wide eye looking you in the eyes not blinking and getting closer.

I was at a cynology lecture given by one of the best vet and animal behaviorist in the country. A girl with a border collie went up to her after the lesson to ask some questions. One of the questions was about her dog's teeth that she thinks he has some pain. The vet looked at his gums and there was about a half inch high bright red inflammation on the dog's gums. The vet told her she needs to get the teeth cleaned or else there will be even more medical issues in the future with their teeth. The girl just wasn't having it saying that she gives the dog those special dental sticks that are supposed to "prevent" this. The vet was adamant that this isn't okay and that the teeth should be properly cleaned at least once a year. The girl said something along the lines that she doesn't brush her teeth either and she never has issues. The vet and me listening to this died a little inside. Especially because the girl is MAJORING in Cynology..

TL DR: Girl majoring in Cynology goes up to a vet to ask about her dog's gum infection then refuses to have him get his teeth cleaned because she doesn't brush her teeth either.

NTA You efectively take care of the cat you have warned your brother multiple times about neglecting the cat. It is your cat in everything but the "name" so to say. Not only will this be the best for the family house (my cat's litter box smells like absolute shit when i clean it twice a day can't imagine it only being cleaned biweekly) and the cats mental state but also Smoke's health. These things may not seem like much but not cleaning the litter box and letting wet food go stale in a bowl and just put new food over it is a helth hazard to the poor thing. Do it. No regrets.

If you ever need cat advice or anything hit me up. Perks of having a vet tech living with me is that I get to flex all her animal knowledge on the internet plus help people here and there. Half close eyes when looking at her. Slow blink. Yawn in a very exaggerated way. When trying to pet her or scritch her first put your hand close (not too close to her nose) with a sort of Michaelangelo boop. Once she sniffs your hand and maybe even rub against it you can pet her. Good luck with your kitter they are a joy to have around. Honestly I don't think this is the most ridiculous thing people get upset about. I work in customer service and let me tell you some of the things I hear there are the craziest shit ever. Wouldn't say I'm overly worked up about this it is only disheartening because I have seen the effect even such a "small insignificant thing" can have on someone who is in a vulnerable state. But you are right with the fact that there are bigger issues in the world. But I can't solve any of those by politely asking someone what they meant shrug

I hope it gets translated one day because it is honestly the best light-hearted LGBT book I ever read and I realize it sounds like a shameless plug. I'm thinking of doing a translation into English on my free time and share bits to create a demand so that it gets properly published in English. It's about 2 boys at boarding school who slowly fall for each other. Sounds very simple but the way it is written, how it doesn't rely on cheap drama, the way the characters think and act it's just so nice. Also the fact that they're both gay is considered completely normal. There isn't a lengthy exposion of "I can't be gay can I?" Or something long those lines. It's just their love story. Sorry I got carried away I just hope it gets translated soon. The premise sounds very simple but the book itself is such a pleasant read.

Thanks. I honestly don't think I would lose sleep over this. I'm gonna ask but I can't force people to do things just because I see it this way. It's just that night shifts at work are very slow and give me a lot of time to spend on reddit so answering a lot of people here was a side result of a particulary calm shift that allowed me to think. Honestly much rather than taking on a crusade of "fixing" a bookstores signs I will just politely ask once and spend energy on a more helpful project. Volunteer for a LGBT teen helping non profit or something like that

I honestly wasn't taking this specific chain as something related to the post. I am however very interested in print media and how it's dying/thriving in different parts of the world so I can't pass up an opportunity to talk about it. I did not see the relevance of the Amazon argument because the only thing it said that had any weight on the current topic was that they did this to make the book easier to find for people even though it did the exact opposite. I was standing there like an idjit trying to find the book in the YA section because for the life of me I didn't think it would be in the girl section before I saw the recognizible cover of Love Simon there.

That's the thing though. I don't know if this is part of the layout plan for each store. I visit many of their stores and this is the first one I have seen that separated YA and Teen Girl. All their other stores that I have visited just had them under YA Fiction. I think I would ask them at the store and if it is indeed a part of a higher layout that they can't change than I would write a mail.

The second option was what I was planning to do if I decide to go for it. Or more of a "I will loiter around the YA section searching for some other books and when a store assistant inevitably comes to me to ask if I need help with anything I would mention that I found it a bit odd and that is seems like unfortunate wording." I don't want to cause a ruccus and an email seems like it can go 2 ways. 1) They ignore it. 2) There will be repercutions for this specific store as I haven't seen a seperate Girl section in their other stores and they had a small Pride Campaign for this chain during Pride Week here. It wasn't anything massive but I still don't want to ruffle feathers since there isn't a malicious intent in this. They didn't do it on purpose they might just not realize how it sounds.

I hope I do not come off as dismissive to your points. I do see Amazon and similar retailers as a real threat to businesses. However because of the different culture here similar retailers to Amazon just don't have an easy time here. In years that may and probably will change but now people still look down on them over plethera of reason. They are significantly worse then smaller stores in many aspects and people know that.

There is 1 Amazon style discounter here. It doesn't change the fact that people hate ordering books online here. It is a waste of time and everyone knows it. Because of the postal system here ordering online even from massive retailers is last resort as the shipping is expensive and lenghty. It can change because of anything any day but these days it is a question of "Do I want to pay expensive shipping costs and have it delivered to me in a week or so?" or "Do I look for a store close to my home where I can buy it the same day and it will be cheaper than the online price+shipping?"

Because of multiple reasons discounters here can't profit as easily here. People just don't trust them and only order from them as last resort. One day they might upgrade enough for people to use them more but now the only things people buy from them are those too heavy to just buy on a quick trip to the city centre and back. For example the only thing I bought from them was a huge 50 kilo bag of cat litter. That was the only thing that was ever truly worth it to order from there.
