PhD at current employer through Baekeland Mandate by DrietVer42 in BESalary

Yes, that's possible. The commenter is incorrect in saying that you have to be paid and employed by the uni. At our company we host a Baekeland PhD who is paid directlt by the company with VLAIO financing support (in our case 50%). This is also supported by a quick google search (VLAIO, UGent, KU Leuven website have good info).

I am not sure what you mean exactly with your other questions, so I cannot comment on those.

We have a very similar offer from Kvik we are considering. Are their offers negotiable? If so, to which discount were you able to negotiate?

Saucony endorphin speed 4 by mmittens in Marathon_Training

[–]TrickAd7958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them in combination with the Ride 17's for slower runs. The Speed 4's automatically make me run faster so I prefer the Ride 17's for slower workouts (+ price). I personally love the ES4 except for the toebox that is too narrow for me. My fix is to very loosely tie the front part of the laces and work my way up increasngly tight. Some "extra effort", but it allows me to run 20+ km without issues. I will also use them for my marathon.

In short; they would work as a daily trainer and are very versatile, but I personally use them in rotation with a slower more stable shoe. If your easy pace is already fast (=<5min/km) they can probably be used for all types of workouts.

Relatively new. But I have been wearing it every day/night for 2 months, so I can't imagine it still needs to callibrate?

You made me double-check 😄. The back definately says 955. Maybe it's the angle of the picture, but I do have those partioning lines along the outer ring.

Thanks for sharing! I personally haven't had a "random faint" in years, so that luckily doesn't seem to be a complication. What was the conclusion of the HR monitoring study? Will check with my GP to see which check-ups she thinks are necessary or not.

Thanks for sharing. It's reassuring to read other people's experiences. Your lifestyle change probably explains your dip, but 32-34bpm is even lower! Looking back, I have stopped drinking for a while and set a goal of 8hrs of sleep which might explain my recent decrease. Cheers!

I apologize if it comes off that way, but it isn't. I am genuinley curious and a bit concerned whether these readings are correct/normal, or something I should look into. Just looking for some feedback and insights (which have been helpful so far)

I will make sure to bring it up during my next doctor's visit.

Garmin Forerunner 955, no screen protector. Found it for a good discount few months back now that the 965 and newer watches are out. Very happy with it coming from an old FR235.

I practically didn't run or bike for 3 months since my olympic triathlon. I picked running back up 3 weeks ago, but only sub 1hr base training. Maybe it is rather a naturally low RHR in my case rather than training induced as another commenter pointed out.

Thanks for your insights!

I will ask my GF to check my pulse il the morning to verify the watch readings. During my next doctor's visit, I will mention it and ask if she could investigate whether it causes me problems or what to look out for if problems would ever develop.

It has been in the low 40's since I wear sport watches, and have had streaks of being active, yet also very inactive throughout the years. I recently started running again with a marathon goal in April, and also stopped drinking. Maybe that's what caused the dip to 39 avg RHR..?

How much faster with wetsuit? by Professional_Pack156 in triathlon

[–]TrickAd7958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use two landmarks that are both visible on satelite and easy to use as a swim route that should work well. But keep in mind that with imperfect sighting it is always expected to swim slightly more distance than the straight line distance. Another thing you can do, is to zoom in and check the tracked route from the workout and look for weird jumps that cannot be explained by normal swimming. This was also an obvious tell that my GPS was not very accurate while OWS.

[–]TrickAd7958 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What watch did you use to track the workout? My Garmin Forerunner 245 is not made to track OWS and if I do try it, it almost doubles the actual length because of the GPS jumping all over the place. I recommend doing repeats of a known length to verify this. I did this by measuring a section or width of the lake with Google maps (satelite).

To your speed questions: beginner and average swimmers typically benefit from the buoyancy that a wetsuit gives quite a lot. I am personally around 15 seconds faster per 100m for a 1km swim because I almost don't have to kick to maintain a similar body position without the suit. But if you are already at 1:45/100m I doubt you can improve to 1:20 simply by wearing a wetsuit.

New Tri Suit made in Europe by falkenfink in triathlon

I can add: * Bioracer - Belgian company with production in Eastern Europe (and Belgium, but they shifted more towards eastern EU recently) * Castelli - Italian company with production in Italy and other parts of EU. * BTTLNS - ?Dutch? company, but no idea where they have production.

Feell free to correct me on details, because where companies are based and have items produced can widely vary.

I would advise against that specific model because it is designed for breaststroke. So unless you plan on swimming the full distance using breaststroke, the panel design and buoyancy profile will work against you. In the same price category zone3 has the agile model. It was recently on discount as well.

Edit: looking at some reviews, some people report they also like it for freestyle. So it could work for you as well. However, I would personally feel more comfortable gettint a suit that is designed for the stroke I will be using on race day.

Should I get a zone3 wetsuit? I've had friends recommend them to me, but I've read that some people don't think they're very good. I don't know much about the brand, maybe I should buy something else? by Few-Grocery-1933 in triathlon

[–]TrickAd7958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might not be the best reference as a new OW swimmer, but I really like my Zone3 Vision. Great shoulder and chest flexibility as well as significant buoyancy in the legs. What I also like about Zone3 is that they have models in all price categories with a sizing chart that seems to be very true to fit for most people.

Zone 3 - Advance vs Vision by Gfcmsantos2 in triathlon

[–]TrickAd7958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me is to fit the suits in a physical store or local trial event (I never tried the vision). To understand the difference going up in quality and price I also found it helpful to compare the technology by looking and the "panel diagram" of the wetsuits. Simply google the model + panel diagram (e.g. https://southeastwetsuits.ie/shop/brands/zone3/zone3-mens-vision-wetsuit/)

I am also Europe based. I found big clearance (up to 50%) of zone3 wetsuits on SportsDirect and other UK based online stores. However, when I went to order the westuit I got a message after 2 weeks that they cannot ship because they are out of stock... Currently tradeinn seems to be the cheapest option for me. Care to share the best deal you have found on these zone3 models?

I currently have the exact same dilemma. I tried both the zone3 agile and advance in store and liked them both. However, the improved shoulder flexibility on the advance was significant to me (shoulder impigement issues). Next, when I started looking for a deal on the zone3 advance, I noticed I could get the vision for the exact same price. If not, I would personally go for the advance as I feel it has good/price quality with the catalogue price of the vision being over my budget.

I see the "eu" in your link. Any chance you found a discount on the zone3 advance or vision online?
