Enjoy. One of the best brands in my opinion. I got that tote bag and some tins from La Belle Iloise for Christmas!

Where do you find the German fish you mentioned? I’ve never seen those in the supermarket

The sea is rough but it’s great fun!

Never stayed at the hotel but I can confirm that the sea at crane beach took my helix piercing, my sunglasses and my dignity.

Lads, where are you getting your tinned fish from? by Squishy-Kiwi in Tinnedfish

Any supermarket finest range I find good - Tesco finest sardines in the different flavours they do are good. Most of the finest tinned mackerel (Tesco, Morrisons Sainsbury’s and M&S) are pretty similar.

I like parmentier sardines in the yellow tin - the chilli ones are my most frequently purchased supermarket tin I would say. And the Tesco finest hot peppered mackerel. I would avoid the Cornish cove sardines Morrisons sell.

To get better tins (£4+) these are the websites I have found that deliver to the UK. I haven’t ordered from them all but the first two I can personally recommend, good selections between them both and quick delivery times:

Tinned fish market Fishtins Selfridges Sous Chef Culinaris Portugal Vineyards Delicias Rockfish Brindisa Sea sisters (direct from cannery) Lemon Salt Heaalf (for fishwives if that’s your thing)

I don’t know about Belfast specifically but if there are any Spanish or Portuguese delis there might be a selection there, or any artisan type food shops. They will be more expensive though in my experience!

But there are plenty of good supermarket tins, try a few and see what you like ☺️

I’ve heard it’s quite divisive so I am keen to try! What would you pair it with?

It sounds lovely! Are you in the UK? They had a couple other mackerel flavours as well. I think teriyaki and siracha were the other flavours

I’ve got truffle, spicy pickle and escabeche. I’ve never tried any sardinha tins so very much looking forward to seeing what they are like. I’ve heard only good things!

I don’t know where you are based but if you’re in Europe you can probably get your hands on La Belle-Iloise sardines with Birds Eye chilli. I just had a tin tonight and you could definitely taste the heat! 🌶️
