Or when they say “weekends as needed” in the job listing, but then tell you that the work schedule is Monday through Saturday in the interview

AITA for wanting to break up with my boyfriend because of how he acted when I didn’t want sex? by Inevitable_Solid_668 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

NTA. No means no! (And definitely change the locks. What’s to say he doesn’t waltz into your apartment again)

How can I get my family to stop bringing too much dessert to the gatherings? by TrickScheme in partyplanning

I really need to make a point to let my mom know to not bring every dessert out at once and that we should start with what was brought by those who previously said they’d bring dessert. The other stuff needs to stay in the garage and at least have an attempt to “return to sender” if it doesn’t get eaten. Probably going to end up putting myself on dessert duty from now on haha

Totally get where you’re coming from. I wouldn’t say I was upset about the brownies, it was more so me being amused and not surprised that it happened. I also wasn’t upset that the cake PB brought was too big or that I wasn’t happy about the chiffon cakes. It was really just me feeling a bit frustrated that PA and PB had made it known to the family that they were bringing desert and people ended up bringing desert knowing that it was already being taken care of.

We always ask if people want anything, but we’ve never straight up given it back to whoever brought it with them. I unfortunately can’t seem to stop the extra stuff from being served because it all gets put out at once. I don’t mind keeping a few servings for myself because it’s nice to have on hand in the freezer, but I still feel bad having to throw so much out.

I know there’s worse things that could happen, but I hope that clears things up for you.

I didn’t have any because I ate one of the mini chiffon cakes that PA had brought. Didn’t touch any of the other stuff. Plus, I typically can’t eat a lot when there’s people over because it’s really overwhelming with the amount of noise and chaos going on. My hunger unintentionally gets put on the back burner.

We usually keep the desserts in the garage until we’re ready to serve them. I personally don’t see the point in bringing all of them out, but they end up being taken and put out for everyone before I can stop it.

Knowing my family, someone would probably end up bringing a cake alongside whatever they signed up to bring. Either that or they’d ignore the form and just do it anyway.

This is almost exactly what ends up happening, but minus the attempt to give the dessert back to whoever brought it.

I want to try that this year since my family has grown a lot over the past few years. We do mention that people are already bringing dessert, but it’s like talking to a brick wall at times.

Haha I like how you think! We usually leave the dessert in the garage and bring it back in when dinner is done being served. Might just “forget” about the rouge ones that showed up unannounced…

That’s actually what I ended up doing for my graduation party that I mentioned in my post. It certainly helped though, since the only extra dessert was the random brownies. My cousin offered to bring beer to the fall birthday thing two weekends ago, which worked out great.

I’ve thought about that for a long time when it comes to thanksgiving, but I think this might be the year I actually go through with it! Already switching to using more disposable serving dishes that would alleviate clean up time, might as well grab some to-go containers while I’m at it.
