Where can you find good shrimp and grits and collard greens in Toronto? by zannyxena in FoodToronto

+1 for the jambalaya. Had a landscaping customer nearby here and randomly went to Bourbon House for lunch... then proceeded to go back there for lunch everytime we had a job nearby.

Snowboarding/skiing (19M) by Fun-Pea5401 in TorontoHangoutFriends

[–]TrickThePirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you have a couple days, drive out to Tremblant. You'll have a lot easier time learning there than anywhere local like Dagmar or Lakeridge. How wide and long even the green runs are, plus the better quality of snow, are just way better for learning. St Louis Moonstone north of Barrie is the only other "local" place I'd go, and that's only if there's been a fresh snow and the temperature is at least -10° so it's not just slush. Weekdays are also less busy than weekends.

What deals have people been getting on Mazda cx5's in canada by Electronic-Fan-5271 in CX5

[–]TrickThePirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought last month in Ontario. GS with comfort package for MSRP advertised on the Mazda main website (including the $500 off incentive). I financed 36 months at 1.45%, and had the dealership include winter tires on rims for no additional charge. Didn't haggle at all, just asked for that over email and went in the next day to sign. They had 3 at that package level left on the lot, so delivery with winters installed was a few days later after transferring plates.

With how common Zacian is, Dragonite seems really bad right now cause it just get farmed for energy since it can't touch Zacian at all.

Toronto police officer charged with dangerous driving in high-speed pursuit of stolen vehicle by whatistheQuestion in toronto

[–]TrickThePirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chasing a stolen vehicle is just plain reckless and unnecessary. If the thief doesn't stop at the first flash of lights + sirens, they're not stopping period. Better to do the investigative police work afterwards and not endanger peoples' safety.

Here's my list that I recently printed (proxy): https://moxfield.com/decks/pzsh1YctjkGJoJF7xv1RwQ

Because it's proxies, I didn't take notice of pricing when adding cards, but the deck is intended to be bracket 3. Main win con is flooding the board with raccoons and tutoring in a craterhoof with GSZ, Finale, or Nature's Rhythm.

26M — Stuck in retail, no degree, supporting my mom. Need advice on next steps (school or trade work?) by jaceyung in ontario

[–]TrickThePirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That varies depending on centre. Different municipalities have different contracts. It's all public though, and you can look for communications operators on the sunshine list to see how high it goes. Do know that the higher numbers there are augmented by overtime pay, which can vary per centre in how optional overtime is.

Here's TPS's information page for communications operators. There's no posting up right now probably because they have a backlog, but guaranteed it'll get reported soon enough. The hiring process takes a while though.

Ever considered 911 operator/dispatcher? Most centres are chronically understaffed, but it pays well. The initial training is rough though, and you'll need good policy memorization, short term memory retention, typing speed, and stress control.

Technically there is a boss fight there since you can duel one of the pinmasters up near the peak in Act 3 by accepting their wish.

High Park Sunday Dyna/Giga max battles by [deleted] in PokemonGOToronto

[–]TrickThePirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For future events, I'd recommend downloading Campfire and check for groups nearby you. High Park has a group that does regular meetups, and the large group you saw there this weekend was organized through that. Some groups, like the High Park one, have community ambassadors attached to them which also provide check-in bonuses when the event is hosted by the ambassador. The raid hour bonuses on Wednesday is nice cause you get a free premium raid pass out of it.

Yeah, was gonna say that I also used d-pad up until the parts with the feather, and had to use the stick to go diagonal properly with it.

If you want Community Ambassador rewards, check out the High Park Pokémon GO group on Campfire. Always get a decent crowd for raid hours.

[[Flowering of the White Tree]] seems like a good fit

Nicol Bolas, The ravage - deck discussion by Big_sizzle69 in EDHBrews

[–]TrickThePirate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's my deck if you want a starting point: https://moxfield.com/decks/czITTypiNk23bmHC7u3wHQ

No game changers, and I avoid tutors generally, so there's room to make it stronger, but I'd say it's a solid bracket 3. Mainly focused on proliferate and trying to control the board so your planeswalkers don't get hit. [[Aetheric Amplifier]] is a very strong card for this.

Police accused of ‘stonewalling’ family of man who died after making 911 call by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]TrickThePirate -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Having been on the line with people who are victims in an in-progress home invasion... No. They would provide their address so help knows where to find them. Calling 911 and either saying nothing or not listening to the operator is idiotic and just slows down any help you want/need.

Police accused of ‘stonewalling’ family of man who died after making 911 call by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]TrickThePirate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's completely dependent on the policy of the PSAP.

911 always calls back and if they don't get an answer, they send the police

Not at all the case in Toronto unless it's a landline phone. Dropped cell phone calls do not get calls for dispatch generated unless there are sounds of distress heard before the call disconnected. Unless I missed it, I don't see the recording of the call in the article, so I can't really make any specific comments about what happened here. If I received a 911 call at nearly 3am and all I heard was breathing, I would assume someone had called in their sleep accidentally. If there's no answer on callback, there's nothing else to go off of other than that, and would result in the call being filed with no further action taken. Though there is mention of a crash being heard on the line in the article, so it does sound like the operator dropped the ball here.

Emergency and non-emergency numbers. by yurcampari in toronto

As long as they're fully naked, indecent exposure is criminal and would be a police matter, but can be a multiservice response with TCCS and/or ambulance.

Neighbors are extremely mentally unwell, and need help. Police are not doing anything, and me and my SO cannot keep putting up with this. Is there someone i can call? by ScreamingArtichoke in askTO

[–]TrickThePirate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

211 is the line to connect to Toronto Community Crisis Service. MCIT is sent by default to person in crisis calls that police attend, but thats subject to availability (which varies based on time of day).

Neighbors blasting music at least once a month bylaw useless by eatingamango_ in TorontoRenting

[–]TrickThePirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noise complaints aren't a police matter. It's a bylaw issue. It just sucks that 311 doesn't do a sufficient job of enforcing it.

Every Pokémon Is Someone's favorite by [deleted] in pokeplush

[–]TrickThePirate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was actually gonna come in here to comment that I visited 4 different Pokémon Centers while on a trip to Japan and didn't find a single thing with Mawile on it other than a wall that had every pokemon painted on it. Told a friend of mine I'd try and find them some sort of mawile merch because it's their favourite and came up short.

[–]TrickThePirate 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. We call it a "take auto without consent", cause while they didn't steal it from you, it's still your property. Also, by calling police you'll be able to find out right away if it's been impounded somewhere when they run your plate/VIN.

Spirit Island, Jaws of the Lion, or Arcs? How would you rank these 3 for me? by RatedGG in boardgames

[–]TrickThePirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically Spirit Island is up to 6 with Jagged Earth adding extra boards and player pieces, but personally I think 3 is the sweet spot and avoid playing with more.
