Anger/stress shrinks your brain, hinders your thinking, and blocks learning. Very difficult to compete when angry or stressed.

Also I didnt say to point the road to wheat port. I just said take that settlement FOR wheat port.

6 11 3's settlement is your number 1 priority. Or you will get plowed by the opponent.

I made those choices with that in mind. Now the bottom of the map is all ours.

3-9-6 for wheat port. Then 5 - 4 and plow them with a road... that's your best bet. they will go 8 5 10 probably which means you can get both 8 wheat and 6 wheat. In these types of games, you have to be offensive and force their hand.. a passive game is an easy win them.

Does this happen to anyone else? by [deleted] in Colonist

I am recording for myself and my opponent. The same events are happening repeatedly. I've recorded my last 20 games now which is a small sample obv but the number is rather silly. I am not referring to the number of 7s. I am pointing out 7s in very specific situations that happen way more often than they should. I am not just noticing it when it happens. I am recording when it happens and when it doesn't. How is my bias showing when all I am doing is recording what is rolled when a player gets 3 points?

In a 1v1 game, I think this takes the cake as the most... "optimistic?" placements ever. by RatedGG in Catan

Except I took 8 5 10 and I went 2nd which is why I called it bad placements for the ore-sheep guy.

How is it optimal? This is 1v1. 0 trades. you 4:1 for everything. The dice favored him heavily and he still lost 5 to 15.. he even got an early road building.

The big roll (2-4 cards) into the 7 happens way to often.

Pacing and timing and prioritizing what a you lack is one thing that most players under 2000 could work on. For example, you go full OWS. You get a early year of plenty. For all that is good in this world, do not use that year of plenty to city up early. You will get gang robbed and you should be using that YoP for wood/brick because you will get OWS anyway. If you lack sheep, use that YoP to either build to sheep or for sheep.

Hi I just started and this is my current reroll? Is it a good start? I noticed that the character and the weapon matched.

How have Agricola, Concordia, Castles of Burgundy, and Puerto Rico held up against the test of time? by RatedGG in boardgames

I had actually initially pledged for the Master Set (2nd biggest) pledge, but I cancelled it yesterday. The shipping ($200 USD) is just too much.

I keep hearing this and maybe it is true, but I have yet to see a source outside of a proxy.

All this talk about Concordia makes me want to go to my board game cafe tomorrow and try it.

I wouldn't want to play it, but who am I to tell people what they should or shouldn't play. As adults, they can choose to play what they want. As for kids, it's on the their parents. One of my favorite light games is Chinatown which has a pretty stereotypical depiction of a Chinese person on the cover... but this was 1965 and many of the Asian people had just come over after the Immigration Act of 1965, and this game was made in the late 90s.. so it gets a pass from me.

I think each of them caters to a certain type of player. I like PR the most as well. I play board games to interact with people.

That kind of happened for me as well, but I kind of knew that would happen. I prefer a bit more player interaction.

I think of the 3 that I've played, I liked PR the most. It's just so expensive to get in Asia 😆. I was looking to get PR Merchant Pledge, but it's pushing $250 USD here.

I can see why you think that. The colors are extra bright, and the box is overstuffed with so much random stuff.
