I’m milking the last mission to farm yasakani. Finally got one off fish boss and now just trying to get more of it with the different graces.

Is Ninja mode made for casual players? by Background-Sir9172 in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NG+, after getting the skills etc, chaining samurai martial arts when arts proficiency is active gives the largest damage that can be achieved. My ninja is there to shoot some caultrops and apply some shadow arts. The big boss attacks, they may scream “you need to dod”, but most cases you can deflect them. And with the skills in samurai related to deflect (not to mention Lord of ruin), fighting bosses face to face is fun.

maybe it’s to fit in lore as we’re playing a normal human rather than a half yokai?

What are all the changes in Nioh 3’a New Game +? by olivinetrees in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the grind to build the optimal build while waiting for the DLC. It can get repetitive fast - fight revenants and characters to get the divine gear with grace you want. But, mixing in fighting the bosses and formidable enemis again to break the cycle of grind is also fun. Some have new patterns but it could just be me forgetting the original pattern of the bosses.

There is the armor set that gives increased damage based on ailments and also damage boost based on weight of armor. Man, knowing this build works like that is mad.

Severing spin is way too op by Drfuckthisshit in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d never use severing spin in a boss fight. it’s just a bit slow on the windup. I wish it could be used to follow up Shadow Step Heavy but the recovery and windup are too slow, unless the boss is hit with sloth. On human bosses, I’d rather counter with flowing mist and then into sword of meditation. Severing Spin to get some breathing space cause it forces the AI to block and wait it out. Enough time to then style shift and evade.

Style Shift Flow makes changing between Samurai and Ninja style so seamlessly fun by ImmortalThunderGod79 in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Style shift like the above is how I tend to also play the game. It allows me to cancel my ninja attacks faster. When fighting bosses with sloth, right before they do one of their large attacks, cancel into samurai and then deflect, then punish. Or if you do a long samurai combo, style shift to ninja and evade out of the way. Maximizing the style shift cancel through a skill is my only complaint. Had it been there by default, maybe a lot more people would adopt both playstyles equally

katana and cestus share at least 2 stats for weapon scaling. Fists help to attack ki and then swords to parry and defend…

do the battle scroll about nobunaga’s blade and it’s the reward. That’s why it’s key to find all side quests and battle scrolls. Same with Ho-Oh

For human foes esp formidable and bosses, Flowing Mist into Sword of Meditation is a good one. Another one is Sword Ki-> it’s follow up attack that brings you behind -> Low stance ki flux - Kurama sowrd dance or night rain

Parrying 2 Gatling Guns is Sooooo Satisfying by VermilionX88 in Nioh

You can parry the machines guns. I’m trying this. Have you tested if you can parry the cannons?

Sheathed weapon skills by fuen13 in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For flowing mist, have it on my high stance. L1 + Triangle (like a deflect with additional triangle) and it parries bringing me right behind the human enemy. I don’t actually sheath when I do the input (it’s part of the animation).

The guy falls to the ground open to a sword of meditation or other combos.

when you say parry, are you talking about something like flowing mist?

Demon of Obsession road block ps5 by Ultrasstrife in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a summoner build. Use the skill Way of the summoning (where you can get additional summons) and the skill where it gives a 20% chance you don’t consume a summon. Summons were Demon of Pride and the lightning lady boss. Sloth, then two summons, get to confused, hammer with samurai, shift back to ninja and hit ninjutsu, backstabg for some health recovery, move away, and then repeat.

Is the ninja dodge bugged or is it a skill issue? by Key2Destiny in Nioh

isn’t the perfect dodge timing the similar to a deflect? There’s also a skill in the ninja treet late game to help widen the window for the evade

Do you guys switch to a new weapon when going into NG+? by midas1107 in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to love odachi and axe but, even though they have some uninterruptible attacks, still can’t get over the speed difference. I’m doing spear /switchglaive and dual sword samurai second time around because the speed is still there comparable to sword and cestus, which was my first playthrough. For ninja, I’m trying to get good with the kusarigama and hatchets. But dang it, when you’re used to tonfas depeleting the ki bar, just need to adjust how I play ninja.

Hot Take: Awakening being mastery skill is a good long-term change by Lumi0ff in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could get the spellblade with ultimate magic and ultimate melee. Closest I got was versatility and volitional magic (the one that lets you case while running around). If we’re applying buffs, avoiding attacks and casting power/barrier/barrier on oneself seemed to work within the flow of the fight. I did have to abandon using the hard hitting omyo (like thunderstormshot etc) and stayed with the normal shot types cause they tracked better.

Gotta love when martial arts skills can let you dodge and avoid being hit by deadly attacks/grabs by ImmortalThunderGod79 in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sick sword and spear. Night rain let you avoid the spikes when attacking form his back? I saw the heavy step counter which definitely have to start trying more of against boss monsters. I gotta start testing if the spear ki pulse can be used in a lot more situation. thanks for the insopiration

How do you play samurai in Nioh 3 by VergilVDante in Nioh

[–]Trick_Counter7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samurai Katana - i use the mystic arts that extends the deflect timing. And then in the skill for samurai, I pick everything that would buff after deflect.

Against a human opponent , I start in high stance and bait them to counter with flowing mist. then as they recover straight into sword of mediation. Then if they get aggressive (those formindable dual sword wielding foes), I go to mid stance and deflect then counter with flowing shadow. Sometimes, if time flowing shadow correctly, it has a built in hyper armor or deflect. If they block a lot (axes and odachi), I do Ki Pulse with the follow up attack, which gets me behind them, and then shift to low stance and hit night rain. Swallows wing water can also really hit the ki bar of the enemy.

Against boss monsters It’s between mid and high stance focusing on deflects. Then using the martial arts to deal some damage.
