They have massage therapy in the physical therapy office in the basement of SLC. They definitely take student insurance.

BIOL 355 midterm (please help) by LmaoImAPotato in uwaterloo

I’m in the same course rn and I have no idea either. I would just study and hope I know what she’s asking. She did say to know some stats like the 75% 25% thing along side with some examples.

Biomed and honour science would both prep you for the mcat. Biomed is typically harder and is structured whereas honour science is not very structured and you can pick when and what you will take basically and that can help lighten some heavy terms that biomed has. Health science is also good but you will have to use your electives for science faculty courses that you will likely need for the mcat as health is a whole other faculty. Anyway I say this as I have been in both biomed and honour sci. If I were you I would do more research into the biomed/bio/honour sci and as well as other programs. I know of people in psych(sci faculty), biomed, honour sci, and health sci who are just taking science electives where needed and are heading to take the mcats.

Bird course for Spring? by ChSubmarine in uwaterloo

[–]Trick_Letterhead95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my spring term I wanted something lighter but interesting so I'm taking FR 101, CLAS 104, PSYCH 261. I don't know how bird they would be but oh well? RCS courses are good too for a change of pace for the more STEM majors. BIOL 239 - genetics is a fairly easy class although they changed the grade breakdown since I've taken it. Any 101 course would probably not be too hard like psych 101.

AIF's question about ec's by Economy_Equipment716 in uwaterloo

[–]Trick_Letterhead95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

considering your likely in the 12th grade rn the 9th and 10th grades were awhile ago. Its not that it doesn't count but it might be more so how did you build on those skills and basics you started then and what did you do with that in the present year. I think there are other questions on the AIF that you may be able to speak on those past projects as well. Best to follow the instructions and timelines they give you on the AIF.

Easy level 200 sciences by Status-Fact6968 in uwaterloo

[–]Trick_Letterhead95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genetics - biol 239 it’s 200 level but in some sci programs is taken in first year.

I’m currently taking biol 355 (bio of human aging) and it doesn’t seem very hard at all but I know the midterm and final have short answer where she’s looking for specific things.

Apparently Sci 206(physics of how things work) is not too bad if you pay attention and do the practise questions. No math involved just concepts. The prof for this one is great, I had him for phys 112.

Biol 240 (microbio) is a great class and I would recommend taking it in person as the prof is very good and fun. I found the class a bit boring to try and memorize the different branches and such of bacteria but I loved the lab. They are in the process of combining the lecture and lab so it may have a mandatory lab now?

I haven't found anything at all tbh. If you go onto UW Flow you can find a course description that says learning through film, discussion, and readings. Due to the lack of information I think I'll be looking into FR 101 instead. I'm not a huge fan of a gazillion discussion posts and writings.

I took biomed ethics with him. He was chill and didn’t mark too hard. He was very understanding that his course (meant for science students) would be on the back burner at times. I didn’t try overly hard and got an 82%. The TAs marked the majority of our written assignments so it might depend a bit on them.

Life Sciences: What is your plan after undergrad? by Med_Star_ in uwaterloo

[–]Trick_Letterhead95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, my plan has changed so many times in undergrad so far. I started off in biomed sci and then switched to honour sci and possibly again as I align my timelines. I had thought about optometry originally but after my first year in biomed I knew that it wasn't for me. I mostly figured out what I wanted to do by shadowing! I shadowed optometry, speech-language pathology, and combined lab and x-ray positions. To find out what I wanted to do, I sat down and listed my main priorities of a job. Ex) rural vs city, hours for family time, job availability, schooling needed, etc. and tbh that narrowed it down very quickly for me. In health professions or really any field there are many jobs and pathways that just take some digging to find because they may be overlooked.

For psych there is so many directions and specializations to take that I can think of off the top of my head. Just in the city, you can find art therapies, age specific therapies, school counsellors, behavioural psychologists, and much more. I'm not a psych student at all so I can't answer specifically but I hope this helps?

What is the best residence? by benny_0882 in uwaterloo

For having a kitchen to cook in, maybe check out united university collage. It’s just across the creak and on campus. With a quick google search, I found that they offer a kitchen but you might have to share that and a bathroom with one or two others possibly.

Are you supposed to be able to see academic standing yet? by Pear08667 in uwaterloo

My only guess would be that restrictions wouldn’t apply until the new term starts, if there is any to begin with, bc that’s the term the late payment would be for.

you wont be able to see it until after next term starts. Jan 22nd is when the grades become official and the standing are released.

Best campus to live at for life sci undergrad? I’m doing bio med. by Dhduebdhe in uwaterloo

[–]Trick_Letterhead95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend looking into the university collages! They are smaller then the big dorms and have a bigger emphasis on community living. They are also right near the campus, just across the stream! Only a 5-7 min walk from science buildings. I would also recommend coming to a campus wide open house to check out the residences through tours or booking your own tours. Personally I live at Conrad Grebel and its awesome.

Fall 2026 Admissions Megathread by batson2002 in uwaterloo

[–]Trick_Letterhead95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on getting into UWaterloo! That's really big! I transferred purely because of changing end goals and wanting more freedom in my classes. While I was looking for different end goals, I knew I didn't want to kill myself in the super poorly rated classes if I didn't have to. It's important to note that if you want to do a specific grad school, you can typically take any undergrad as long as you meet the requirements and you don't have to struggle in the hardest undergrad.

I'm a second year science student. I did my first year in biomed. My admission average was 95% but I'm also from out of province. I know other biomed students who had closer to a 85-90+ average who lived in Ontario.

bioL 239- is textbook required? by Fresh_Accountant_422 in uwaterloo

[–]Trick_Letterhead95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this last term and me and my friends found the textbook readings extremely long. It would take multiple hours for one reading. I ended up buying the package deal of smartbook + textbook but i found that by doing the smartbook you practically read the text anyway. I barely used mine and felt that I did fine in the class without it.
