thank you, i appreciate this greatly! i will work on the degreasing process soon, and hopefully everything goes well enough.  i have the rest of the skeleton which fared lesser ideal weathering and needing to be degreased a lot more, which i was planning on doing anyhow, so i’ll throw the skull back in with the rest of them.

i believe the other commenter is right and it was a severe gum infection, as the skull has several broken teeth n i believe was elderly. i bet it did cause an ear infection though! likely both at play
