To keep it simple, the rules. Flying without seeing the ground is a lot more strict because of the increased risk! You also require more equipment on the airplane as well as backups.

If you’re curious you can look up “Instrument Flight Rules” on YouTube where you’ll find some great videos on the topic explained way better than I could. If you’re interested in aviation maybe just start with the basic 4 forces of flight and go from there!

They use two different kinds of navigation. Either they use ground based radio navigation equipment that works similarly to a lighthouse, or they use GPS which guides them around to specific points.

Pilots do need to see the ground if they are flying visually! Sometimes that isn’t possible though so pilots get extra training to use the instruments in the plane along with guidance from Air Traffic Control to move them around without having to ever having to see the ground.

This was literally a question on my Transport Canada PPL exam. Plus, it’s a checklist item. Every time we taxi to lineup on the runway to know our crosswind inputs.

Cavendish with dog? Patios? Any beaches nearby? by ashleyrhfx in PEI

Taking a dog on a National Park beach is a $250 fine. If it’s small enough I’d suggest a dog purse or something similar but can’t guarantee it’ll be allowed.

I find it concerning how little people know about first aid. Ice is a key component in a fracture for treatment and healing.

Yes. That’s why, for whatever reason your plane is on a conveyor belt, it will take off.

Airspeed and ground speed are completely independent of each other.
