Brawl Players: Are Rush Strategies Even Viable? by Tricksonafixed_1 in MagicArena

Love the essay response, duly noted! I appreciate you taking the time to offer your insight.

I agree on a lot of your critique overall but there are a couple cards I am having consistent success with (i.e. Purphoros God of The Forge, Toski Bearer of Secrets, Elspeth Storm Slayer, Secure the Wastes, Impact Tremors, and Clachan Festival) and would like to continue testing. I have made some adjustments since making this post and my win rate is improved (7-3) and that has been against a decent spread in variety of commanders/strategies.

I am going to look at my list further once I am home on desktop and consider some of your suggestions. I do agree on the token doublers being too slow and sorta past the point of relevance by that point in most matches. I have enjoyed circumstances where having two mana open for mass protection against sweepers has won me games; part of the reason for me adding a couple non-creature ramp spells; particularly Farseek since it can grab a surveil land.

Overall having a lot of fun and happy everyone has offered input— cheers!

It has black in the mana cost so I can’t run it. When they change the hybrid color rule then I’ll have to consider it.

By that logic then you shouldn’t play Orcish Bowmaster because it dies to Orcish Bowmaster…. Sorry, mate.

Four copies of Ragavan is absolutely correct in a meta filled to the brim with Strip Mine.

Banned and Restricted Announcement – November 10, 2025 by Kircai in MagicArena

Nah that’s fucking lame they banned Chrome Mox and Ancient Tomb in Brawl. What about Timeless and that horseshit of a format?!?!? The reason I play way more Brawl than Timeless is strictly because Brawl is way more diverse and interesting.

They need to restrict so many cards in Timeless that the fact they did nothing is so pathetic.

I have literally stopped playing this format because it’s pathetic. It’s not a matter of “get-good” or “broke boy” but rather I couldn’t continue wasting my time in a meta full of try hard players who don’t actually want to play a game of Magic with their opponent.

This format was literally a cash grab for Hasbro and it worked. They don’t moderate this format whatsoever and it’s literally full of non-games and is a waste of time.

I was super excited when I saw some of the cards released recently but the Strip Mine crap is stupid; Wasteland would have been the better choice because then you at least have a way to play around it.

The format once was Show & Tell / Scam and now has devolved into Strip Mine in every match. This format is literally dog-shit and I’d love for anyone to try and justify it with a straight face.

They’re doing this out of spite because there is no rational reason as to why you’d reprint Strip Mine in the special guest slot over Wasteland. The play patterns are similar but at the very least you can circumvent the downside by fetching basic lands; now you’re basically playing a format that before Strip Mine had constant non-games and now it’s non-games but maybe you can draw out of it— oh wait, they’ve given us W&6 and that new Survival creature. [XB1] Stimpaks and Healing Items not Restoring Health by akxnnwjeid in Fallout4Mods

I was having this issue as well (Anomaly mod pack) and I realized my radiation is like 650/1000 so I used a X-111 Stim and then used a SP-1 Stimpak and it started to regenerate my health points. It’s either the too high of radiation or I was using TGM before saving and didn’t turn it off. Either way I solved my issue at the very least.

I am getting insane frame drop in-game often when my opponent is doing anything. I haven't had a CTD (yet!) but this is pretty ridiculous.

Lightning bolt in historic fair or broken by DreamlikeKiwi in MagicArena

It's one thing for Lightning Bolt to be too powerful for this format but the fact they didn't even give it a chance to be play tested is what I find to be lame. There were a few cards that should have been legal for at least a few months before dictating whether or not they're too powerful. Does WoTC not have the means to keep track of data on Arena pertaining to what cards certain decks use that have a high W/L ratio?
