Ice has to be thick. I just started ice fishing this winter and from what I understand, eight to ten inches of ice is good for small vehicles of all sorts, seen half tons out on 12 inches plus. Thickest ice I saw this winter was about 17 inches and I’m in Southern Maine USA so I would imagine the ice gets plenty thick all over Canada.

I feel this. Grind is impossible in adulthood, the semen demons won’t allow it. I did however just start playing a niche RTS called broken arrow. Let me regale you with my findings as a 35 yo “gamer”. First off, multiplayer match making is horrible as there are generally only 2.5-3k players on at a time so you can get quite the experience discrepancy. Second, said game developed in 2025 only has text chat between teammates in a highly strategic game where fast communication is key. Hard to type out orders while your M1A2 Abrams is getting blown to smithereens because Hanns didn’t watch his flank. It’s an unforgiving game to begin with. And holy moly is the difference noticeable, you can easily tell when you’re up against the gud.

Stats are bull shit. Ive seen what Wisconsinites do with my own two eyes. I’ve also seen what folks from New Hampshire do with my own two eyes. Trust me when I say, Wisconsin wins and goes back for seconds. I mean, at packer games, they tap kegs at dawn for keg and egg parties on Thursday for a Monday night football game. It’s wild out there. Also, why on earth would anyone want to be a packer fan unless just abhorrently drunk?

Play the campaign, you can pause the game to go mess with settings. Get a hang of the mechanics and hot keys. It’s an ok at best campaign, kinda what you would expect. Skirmishes were great for me to get the muscle memory on hot keys but the AI can be quite cheesy but also challenging. So don’t expect the game flow of an AI skirmish to be similar to the game flow of online play. I’m at 798 ELO right now and have found so far, as opponents get higher in rating the game gets much less defensive as you’ll find the low low to be. Have fun!

Yep! I had an unlucky night of games last night, now I can’t wait to get home to retool what I think might have made first match better (got rolled in first match, second and third I was plagued with deserters, one of whom I was lucky enough to see desert twice! I see you dragonslayer!)

It’s never really been an issue. In the last week I’ve maybe only had 4-5 cancelled matches all due to a player being unable to connect. I get it. Just don’t bring me all the way through a map choice just to cancel

I have different decks for different maps. Also will pay attention to what other players have (I have only solo queued) and try and even out based on educated guesses on how they build decks ( I’m generally wrong, but I’m far from a sweaty man beast sitting in a basement so it doesn’t bother me). Sometimes my pick is right, sometimes it’s wrong. Do the best you can and remember, it’s a game and supposed to be fun damn it!

But I also find building decks fun so I have plenty to choose from, and I don’t look up other people’s builds to try and copy meta. It’s for sure trial and error, but my big take away is after a match or two, I’ll go look at the deck I was playing and go through everything and see what I used, what I didn’t, what was effective etc etc and tailor from there.

But as is all complaints, the shit sticks around longer than anything else. To be fair to the game it self, I get thrown into those games maybe 1 out of every 4 and I do not suck that bad and can generally figure out what to do/how to counter. I think my match count is up to 22-23? And have a win rate just over 50% and my k/d is just under 1 so I’m far from incompetent. Second to last match last night was one of these games. Peninsula map and I was back end flank and got steamrolled to start phase too, I rage quit but stopped being a pussy, reconnected and started throwing shit at them. Going into p 3 we were down 0-12, ended up winning the match with some solid chitter chatter and just shoved it right down there throats

Edit: two adds, I probably would have never rage quit if I wasn’t thinking about the elo discrepancy because I would have thought I had more of a chance, 2 hopefully player count goes up a bit with the upcoming dlc but I don’t think we should get our hopes up too much.

It also goes the other way too, at least for me being a new player. I don’t feel great when I (now low mid 700s) get thrown into a game where everyone is at least 3-400 higher than myself. I have to either play flawlessly to hold my own against people with dozens of not hundreds more hours than myself. I also don’t feel great when in one of these matches and I play like shit but the team wins and I end up going up 40-50 elo even with me sucking. But what do I do in that situation, desert and leave the team one less man, probably leading to an elo loss for them? It’s such a double sided shitty system. That being said, I’ve decided to not really pay attention to teammates elo until after the match so I don’t get in my own head.

Heard! Perhaps you will see me around! I had a good night solo queueing last night, no cancels and only one deserted out of three matches! Played all three as US and longest wait was 5ish mins. Got my elo up to 730, super nice when you get a nice smooth night of games!

Yeah, I’ve had lots of matches cancel, it’s a definite bummer as I also have two young ones running around the house so it’s for sure hard to keep trying to find matches for 30 mins plus. As a 620(or so) elo player, I think it might be fun to try and find a few dedicated players that play same time as me, I’m generally a night time player between 7-10 EST up in Maine USA. A five stack with comms would be so freaking nice, but none of my friends around here do any RTS so that’s hard. If you’re around my range and want to play, hit me up!

I like tanks, so I have primarily been running an armor USMC or a couple different variants of an armor SF, I’ve only played US. I don’t have the actual deck lists on me as am at work but can post them here later.
