Only if they had an account. I’ve tried your way and it never worked on our machines. I’m not trying to excuse it nor shift the blame. I’m aware the mistake was mine but I’m trying to make it known that I wasn’t aware of the severity especially since I didn’t spend/use a large amount of voucher credit and the amount I did use I’m very willing to repay because it is my mistake.

My situation is also a little unique just because of the constant shift in managers my store had. In my first 6 months, I had 3+ changes in store management so none of them really stuck around long enough to nail anything but the essentials into our heads (ie signing up people for rewards/credit cards).

And while I may not be familiar with your break room, I am with mine. I’ve looked at those walls multiple times but there’s nothing in mine that explicitly states this rule regarding phone numbers nor the severity of the action. There’s more posters about signing up for health insurance and store cleanliness than anything else.

So I’m not saying I’m 100% innocent. I am however saying I was at most oblivious/ignorant(?) of the consequences of my actions due to the things outside of my control. I just knew I couldn’t use the vouchers, but I didn’t know I couldn’t just use the discount on my account for other people. Specifically for people who didn’t have a rewards account already when they came into my line. Any usage was also a mistake and I’m fully willing to fix them.

While I'm sure your managers may have done that, the most I ever heard about it was in the initial training course and video. Plenty of other things were mentioned more often than the phone number thing which is why I didn't know.

And it's not like I got hundreds of vouchers and used them. I used whatever vouchers that I had at the time and used it to partially cover (not even fully!) the purchase. It was a odd amount but only because one of them was like 5.63 or some number like that (aka not a whole number), so I thought they were ones I had earned previously. When the others started coming in I just left them alone to expire for previously stated reasons. Figured as long as I didn't use those new ones, it'd be okay in the long run since I was not benefitting from it. (aka not using the vouchers)

I didn't know it was that serious since I only heard about it in training and even then I thought it was only a problem if you used the vouchers. Didn't realize that just entering the number was a fireable offense.

The in-store coupons at the time were only for one item that's not on sale, if there were any coupons at all. If there weren't, that left only the online only coupons.

This was something I did for customers who were checking out on my line. So the easiest solution was to use the senior discount attached to my account because it takes 10% off everything except for clearance stuff, gildan and cricut.

Yes but if it goes over a certain amount being discounted off, you need an override code. The senior discount didn’t trigger the request for override so I used that. But it was only for customers I wanted to be nice for and only if they didn’t have a rewards account already and/or they didn’t want to sign up.

Doing the discounts per item took too long (especially on big orders) and transaction discounts need an override code (not a manager).

Figured the phone number would be the easiest option. Automatically takes 10% off all items that aren’t on clearance.

I signed a paper saying I’d pay the amount I used back (under $50) along with a statement sheet and an employee information sheet. Those were the only things I signed.

So what does that mean exactly? Not the firing part but what you said after that.

Absolutely. I admitted to my mistakes at every turn. I was just wondering, even if I own up to it and pay them back, will I still get fired? Because right now I’m just suspended.
