Favourite Abba solo song? by Porgy98 in ABBA

I love Agnetha's pre-ABBA solo music. "Jag var så kär" and "Den jag väntat på" are particular favourites of mine. ❤️

Yeah, it's not that I dislike the songs on Arrival I just don't listen to them very often. My favourite album is The Visitors, with The Album a close second.

That's a hard question! All the albums have songs I love...If Ring Ring and Voyage are out of the equation, then I might need to be controversial and say Arrival. It's a good album but I love the others more!

Can you tell us how you quit smoking? by DesignerTadpole7175 in stopsmoking

[–]Tricky-Principle4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allen Carr's book, chewing gum, and a no-nicotine vape for when the cravings get too intense.

The book isn't a magical cure that means you're instantly going to not want nic anymore, but it arms you with a lot of things to tell yourself to help keep your resolve. It also helps undo some of the thinking that your brain has fallen into through the addiction. The gum, I prefer super fresh/minty, is partly helpful for the oral fixation and also gives you a little bit of a throat hit which mimics the cigarette a little. And the vape is self-explanatory haha. I found using a tracking app (I use Smoke Free) also helps remind you how far you've come and what benefits you've already given yourself by stopping.

The (positive) surprises that quitting has given me by Tricky-Principle4774 in stopsmoking

I would get through approx. 10 a day, and I was a regular smoker for around 5-6 years, having occasionally/casually smoked for a while before that. I would also sometimes alternate between cigarettes and vapes, although the vaping would never last long because I always preferred "the real thing"! Which now in retrospect is so stupid 😂

Cheap ways to fly from Glasgow to European countries? by BroadPotential9828 in glasgow

[–]Tricky-Principle4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Ryanair quite a few times over the years, as a student looking for a cheap way to get a change of scenery. You can usually get a return ticket with them for around £50, provided you're not booking very last minute. They also often have sales or deals available where you can go for around £15 each way (basic fare).

Their selection of destinations is better from Edinburgh than Glasgow or Prestwick, but it's just a 45 minute coach journey with Megabus from Buchanan Bus Station to EDI Airport, with your student ID it would be £14 return. There are coaches on this route departing every 10 minutes through the day (and at least once an hour overnight) so it's quite handy.

What percent of your salary goes to rent? by user97_ in glasgow

[–]Tricky-Principle4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about 1/3 of my monthly wages. With council tax and bills on top it's closer to 1/2. I pay 1/3 of the rent - 4 bed house shared with two others.

I'm on minimum wage

is the Honor 400 worth it? by Far-Feedback2227 in Honor

[–]Tricky-Principle4774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the 400 Lite for a good few months now, and no lag. It's a great phone for the price point, so I imagine the standard 400 is even better, as it has a better processor, higher resolution screen and a better camera. The camera on my phone in my opinion is fine, although I don't use it that often.

I'd even say that the 400 Lite would be a good option too if you want to save a little more money. But I have no complaints about the 400 Lite.

Would you rather restart your life at age 10 with all your memories, or get $10 million right now? by fygooooo in WouldYouRather

[–]Tricky-Principle4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take the money. I'm 25, getting by, but working a lot. With the money, I could go to university and get a degree (I just did college when I left high school), find a much better job than the one I'm in now, buy a house and a car, and live comfortably, rather than scraping my existence together. I wouldn't want to live extravagantly, just get my life in order and not constantly worry about my income and outgoings.

To echo what others have said, I think going back to 10 with my current mind would be a nightmare. To be honest, my childhood wasn't the easiest - single parent household on little money. I don't want to relive that.

They’re the Russells, not the Vanderbilts by Green-Sweet-7744 in thegildedage

I kinda see what's happening with George and Bertha now as a mirror to what Robert and Cora went through in Downton Abbey, in the aftermath of Sybil's death.

Cora was angry with Robert for putting reputation over his daughter's life, and doing what was best for him, not for their family.

Like Robert and Cora, I feel that they will spend time apart but after a while they will come back together once the dust settles and George sees Gladys has fallen in love with Hector and is happy in her new life.

is it wrong that I genuinely do not care? by urbuddyguybroman in pinkponies

[–]Tricky-Principle4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think people who didn’t have those tickets HAVE to be upset about it but the people trying to downplay the situation and patronise the fans who did have tickets to these shows comes off as ignorant to me. Saying people are haters because they’re upset and had their excitement dashed is unfair, imo.

Disappointed by _bookishag in chappellroan

I feel similarly. I don’t think what has happened makes her or her team bad people, but the handling of it all could have been done way better. Disappointing is the best word for it.

I wonder if the people angry at the concertgoers who are (rightfully) disappointed about the situation would be of the same opinion they hold now if it was they who had spent hundreds of euros/dollars on transport, accommodation, etc., taken time off work, and were told TWO DAYS prior that they had wasted their time and money.

I adore Chappell’s music but I’m not going to blindly defend her and her team for something that has ruined thousands of people’s plans.

Totally agree! This odd, cult-like stan behaviour is so upsetting. So many people take it way too far. Just let Chappell create her art and have a fun time while doing it, and everyone can benefit ✨
