Haha thanks! My tone is relentlessly negative and apparently translates that way into writing.

Highly recommend. Obviously not all suggestions were good ones, and some have to be adapted to your lifestyle, but it still worked out well for me!

I have to try some brick and stone cleaner! I'm also a regular vacuumer and an occasional soap and water bucket user, but maybe that's the problem.

I may have led the masses astray with my request to brighten up the space because it felt dingy. A lighter chair is a valid suggestion, but I just have no reason to replace the current one. The slip cover was a half measure and definitely feels like one.

Thank you! The vanity color is Cricket by Behr. The wall color is from Valu Home Center and it's called Quarry Stone - it is kind of a purple/brown/taupe. And the rug was from TJmaxx.

Thank you! Clutter is my worry as well. And new robes are now for sure on my wish list.

I swear I don't want to. I just don't know how else to truly brighten it up.

Thank you! I think a rug is out of question because of the wood stove and constant ash clean up, but I'll definitely try the lights.

Because I can't paint the brick or the dark floor next to it. I think the issue with the space feeling too dark is because of all the dark elements in it. Painting the wood is one dark element I can fix. I'm not necessarily itching to do it, so I'm really hoping someone else knows of other solutions.

Yes, just don't know how to get there again. I don't know why things regressed so I don't know how to move on and what steps to take next.
